Seriously, though. Chatspeak does not a story make. Though it harkens back to the old days of epistolary novels about hot and bothered women in petticoats, I generally find IM/chat room-based stories to be nigh insufferable. This . . . does not make me change my mind.

Sure, it has a few moments. But on the whole, it's like . . . reading an IM conversation. Funny or interesting or dramatic to an insider; tedious and trite to anyone unfamiliar with the internal dynamic.

What's more: No descriptions of anything outside the chat. No real character development. No imagery. No real plot. C'mon. Give me something that I can chew on. Anything. As is, this is the fictional equivalent of half-thawed chicken nuggets.

Ok, odd is the only word I have for that. :) I did (against my better judgement) find myself wishing for a little bit more. :)
