Ranma's fluency in Navajo is another Genma Goof, but a honest one, one anyone in his position could have made! What likely happened? It's simple. Genma went to an Army base on the training trip right at the start, asking help so Ranma could speak like a native American. Even Genma knew how important English was going to be. Unfortunately, Genma made the plea to a Windtalker with a sense of humor. For those that don't know, the Windtalkers were (and are, if any survive to this day) Navajo Native Americans who simply relayed messages in navajo over radio, as the language was so unlike English or any Latin-based language as to be indecipherable. It's a bad enough differance that you pretty much have to be raised with it from the critical period for language acquisition to get it at all. Hell, only Ranma's infamous technique-retention talent allowed him to keep the Navajo intact this long!
