This is a gorgeous one-shot, filled with rigid control of a monarch and the yearning of his soul for something he should not have. Your exposition is lush, and I think this is my favorite descriptor: 'It struck the door with a satisfying crack as the spine broke and pages fluttered to the floor like so many leaves.' Beautiful imagery. |
