| The Fate of an Amaryllis 2008-05-09 ch 5, | abuse... I'm... Well, speechless. I've never read anything so profound before. And the characters are completely in character, and the storyline is just amazing. 'Amazing' even sounds too mild. o_O You've definitely got me hanging onto this... Certainly will look forward to more! (Doesn't have to be immediately, though. =D) |
| Jyn 2008-04-26 ch 5, anon. | abuseThe story had developed into a very intense one. From the initial comradeship, to a couple...they have indeed come a long way. Enjoyed every bit of it. Have been dropping in regularly to visit it...hope the story has not ended and will continue on. |
| Wassermagierin 2008-04-13 ch 5, | abuseI really, REALLY loved this chapter. It was absolutely beautiful. I can imagine Shiho feeling useless and praying to her sister. But in the end, it all turned out great. I loved it! |
| Milkweed 2008-04-05 ch 5, anon. | abuseInertia is so good. It's one of the best short stories I've ever read. It doesn't give you time to thihk about anything. |
| senselesswords 2008-04-03 ch 5, | abuseI still can't find the words to say it...(still searching)...This story was wonderful!!, All three parts of "Inertia" are just amazing, much more than any other fanfic about Shinichi-Shiho. The way you described their relationship was perfect, the way she felt about stealing Shinichi from Ran, I think it was very realistic, not like those other stories that just simply put a pairing and don't consider the rest. Espectacular, bravo! **I do think you made Shiho suffer enough, but the end was perfect. |
| Crystal 2008-04-02 ch 5, anon. | abuseThis has been one of the best SS fics I have ever read. I've been waiting a long time for you to finish. I cried so much at the end and at the part about what husbands and wives should do. I hope you can continue with an add-on or except to this series. Lastly, I saw some symbolism: about the chair being stuck in the door and not moving. It was if it was hindering her from moving on. Bravo. |
| KeRose 2008-04-02 ch 5, | abuseBravo on these last three chapters(i.e. 3,4,5). I had read all three parts of the "Inertia" series in just one sitting and I am still in awe of it all. I defintely loved the structure you had implemented, whether it was intended or not, where you put us in the middle of things and then recount events leading up to it through the flashback ( I believe the technique is called "In Medias Res"?) Loved your detailed descriptions about the actions as well as thoughts in the story. The explanation of the agony and tribulations of Shiho going through a typical day were perfectly believable. Absolutely, positively, loved the deception in the last part of part 3 where you had made it seem like Shiho was stuck and calling all the events as a "hazy dream". Then I just cried when you used the image of the empty chair. I feel this is one of the best Shiho/Shinichi stories I have ever read, hands down. I look forward to more of your works! |
| Claude le noctambule 2008-04-02 ch 5, | abuseThe conclusion of the whole story was worth of the waiting. ^__^ Well, a lots of thing deserve to be noticed and praised, I dunno how to begin this review. XD; Oh well, let's begin by a random thing. To be honest, I haven't expected to see...well the issue related to the intimacy of the couple beeing mentioned.^^; The question had crossed my mind several times, I should said, and I've already tried to imagine the kind of awkward and painfully tragic scene that the husband and his wife would face but... ...but I didn't think that you would dare to mention them. It sounded so...voyeuristic and so...sorrowful to imagine the most intimate details of the whole tragedy beeing pictured. Not that I was sad to see that you've crossed this line, on the contrary, I was more that happy.^_^ Because...well, you didn't retreat in front of the tragedy you've put around your characters, you've assumed until the end, and in a mature manner...which was just awesome. On the same area, it was beautiful to see every details of Shiho's calvary, and the kind of trial she must endure for the most casual action in her everyday life. I've loved how their mutual burden...well, was trully a burden. It makes the two characters more human, and it was so easy to understand Shiho's guilt...How she's accepting the possibilty of adultery as something which would be fair enough for her husband...and how she coudln't remain stoic when the possibilty looks more real... The flaschback...Oh well, it was filled with tension...despite the fact that we know the tragic ending since the beguining...and it was good to see the atrocious truth behind the unanswered questions let by the first chapter. Everything makes sense now, and I should admit taht I was glad to see how you've not reduced Shiho to an helpless victim...we could feel how she was struggling to live, despite the pain and the additional difficulties. The tension was still here after the wakening, even if the anguish was pushing us into different path... Adultery? The definitive loss of the only thing keeping her alive? Until Nara's answer, I was oscillating between those two tragic ending...and after the first one was erased, once again, it was good to see Shiho struggling against the fate. And I've loved how you've conciliated her determination with her fatalism("After all, she thought with her mind on her paralysis and other ailments, what more can they do to me?"). Well, well, the conclusion... You've warned me for the lack of realism but, honestly, it didn't bothered me at all. From a dramatic perspective, it's kind of realistic... Well, ok, let's respect the meaning behind the word, in the idealism vs realism scale, it's closer to the first option...XD; But well, in fiction, this kind of twist would always touch a sensitive cord in many reader. After all, we need to see characters beeing rewarded for the efforts and the apin they endured...and despite our inner scepticism, we're still glad to see a miracle happening from times to times.Xp X3 Oh well, in conclusion, I've enjoyed the whole story until the end, and I would be more that happy to see the other storie sthat you've in mind for this challenge. ... Inner translator: 10 324 words? Oh my gosh...Y-Y Well, it's worth of the pain anyway...but I think it would be a bit longer that the precedent chapters. XD |

| The Fate of an Amaryllis 2008-02-07 ch 1, | abuseI think I've read these on LJ, but I didn't have an account so... '-_- ..Yeah. I love the way you portray them and how they interact. The play-by-play emotions... They rock. You are really good. Definitely on me favourites. =) Athena |
| Watashi1 2008-01-13 ch 3, anon. | abuseOMG SO SAD! BUT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! |
| Crystal 2007-12-24 ch 1, anon. | abusePlease continue to Part 3 of this story. It's really interesting... there's lots of unanswered questions here. |
| Dagron 2007-10-24 ch 1, | abuseFinally got started on reading this story (I'm gonna apologise profusely for not getting it done before now, but I'll spare you the long diatribe.) Have read "The End" and "Threads of Fate" and been struck by the brilliant subtleness and great feeling of ICness I get from it... Which is kind of contradictory in a way, I guess, because I'm not sure if I consider DC a classic of subtleness, yet... it works. It works splendidly. You have taken scenes I have thought of as rehashed by fandom (BO defeated, DBoys older- Or maybe I've just been scarred by some clumsy attempts?) and twisted them so that they'd cease to be "fandom" and become not only "believable" but also... I dunno? Great Portrait moments I guess. In these two stories, regarding "shipping", you've managed to take us to the line and make us (or at least me, ahaha) happy just to be there, and -not- cross it, nor depart from it (apart from in our own minds). ... Anyway, cutting short from the line of thought writing of this review, you've captivated me with this added dimension you've given to the characters and the subtlety of the telling (so much left unsaid, yummy!) and I'm looking forward to reading more. :) Apologising profusely for the lateness of this review! And much love, -Dagron. |
