Jestry 2008-09-06 ch 35,	abuseHmm. Well. I like how this is about marching band. I'm kind of fetishing all things band-related since season has started. I like how this story flows pretty well. Like, the dialogue is pretty smooth and natural, and it's not awkward to read. Also, you're pretty good at describing so that we don't feel bored, and yet understand what's going on. And like, the thing about Syd having multiple boyfriends while distantly and eventually getting together with James (we all know that's what's going to happen right? xD) is realistic. In real life, people don't just go straight from point A to point B, and I like that you've worked that in there. I really like Adrianna, her sidestory is pretty interesting, and it adds a whole new layer of depth and realism to your story, so she's not obsessing over her love life every single waking breathing moment. That being said... your plot seems to kind of drag on. She gets mad at James, she forgives him, she gets mad, forgives him again, but their relationship isn't really much different from the way it was in the beginning. They say the same kinds of things to each other, treat each other in pretty much the same I-acknowledge-your-existence-and-we-are-semifriends kind of way. It'd be nice if their relationship developed a little. And honestly, pulling out of the show because James got hurt? I don't know. I would expect something like a "the show must go on; let's do it for James" kind of thing. That's just my opinion, I'm not really sure what would happen in reality. But honestly, we march with random holes in our drill all the time, and it's not like it's a huge difference unless half the band is gone... plus, just out of respect for James. Do you think he really would have wanted the school to miss their chance at championships (or whatever it's called) just because he got hurt? Dunno, that just bothered me a little. But overall, nice story. It's pretty entertaining. Update soon! (:
