I do like you showing Rei's re-emergance as well as her struggles with trying to re-intergrate herself with society, as well as her support network. Too bad we couldn't see the confrontation/apology session between Asuka and Rei would be my only possible complaint on this :P

And I realize in essense, that pretty much defines Rei. That being said I still believe it added a slight flare to the style of writing. Excellent. One for my favorites.

It's well written, and I think you kept Rei in-character as to how she would be shortly after coming to terms with her emotions and discovering to a greater degree the world around her. Actually, your description of how Shinji liked to gaze into Rei's eyes triggered a new idea for a one-shot; I hope you don't mind (it's not entirely based on that -- the idea just ended up triggering a bunch of related ideas, including a fic Merridan did that I liked but found something intuitively wrong with, my own observations, some experiences with my own life, and some of my observations from the series). Also, I read a fic tonight that was apparently based on this... The author did a nice job I think, though the backstory and such was noticably different. Keep up the writing. You're pretty good.

I also liked how you kept all the characters true to themselves. It is rare to find stories that can have the pairing while maintaining a realistic feel. All in all nicely done and I hope to see future works from you.

one guy 2007-06-28 ch 1,	abuseYou've been very good at constructing the situation, the atmosphere. I also liked the intrigue. Although I could guess the "word" that upset Rei so much, I couldn't guess the circumstances which is very good because that way I would tell you that the story is a little too predictable :) Maybe the only little, itsy bitsy minus is that you sometimes explain more than is necessary. For example, there was no need writing "when a still grouchy Asuka made her grumbling, unthinking...". Can't we figure the reason for her comment ourselves? Moreover, I think it would have been more interesting if you didn't directly write that "doll" was the word that made Rei run. I would simply delete these words: "when Asuka, her friend, had uttered that one, horrible, heart shredding word. Doll." All in all, a well-written story. By the way, this is not criticism but I doubt if Rei would like the colour blue. I guess she would try to avoid it as it should remind her the sad days at NERV...
evil chick 2007-06-27 ch 1,	abuseI've written a couple of Rei/Shinji fics before but they never come out quite right. Also when I try to look for some inspiration around here, its pretty rare to find anything that truely captures the characters. Most of it is like Shinji,"Rei I think you're pretty!" Rei blushed. Asuka,"I'm jealous. I hate everyone." Somehow sabotages their relationship somehow. Rei falls into Shinji's arms,"Oh Shinji I love you." It conveniently starts raining. "Oh my we're wet." Shinji,"I love you." Then they make out in the rain. And Rei is wearing a white t-shirt, I forgot. But back on track, I thought your fic was great!! Thumbs up man!
Himonky 2007-06-27 ch 1,	abuseExcellent. I'm not usually one for S/R, but when they're well done like this I like them. A very nice portrait of a post third impact family. I like how you gave explanations about why and how they'd all changed. This makes it a lot more easy to understand what's going on. I like the "word" theme. It ties in real well at the end, and with the doll themes of NGE. Asuka doing it makes sense, in a completely in character way. I was glad to see you had her feel bad though, shows a lot of character development has occured on her part. Security blanket/Shinji's coat: Real interesting idea here, both from a romance and character angle. I think a reference to the commander's glasses might have worked well here, like listing an older one that she no longer needs. Still, good idea. Overall, this is what I expect to see from you. Last fic I didn't like quite as much, but this is what I'd call back in the right direction. If it takes time, don't beat yourself up over it. Recommended. EvSoc Reviewer: Himonky

This is in general very true and happens to most of us . I could relate to it . Made reading it even more enjoyable ;) Thnks for this wonderful piece of ShinjixRei . Mr. Lee 2007-06-27 ch 1,	abuseHey there my Canadian friend :). You know, you really need to stop being so hard on yourself. As your good friend and a longtime fan of NGE, this is without a doubt, one of the, if not best ShinjixRei story I've ever read, oneshot or otherwise. The detail, realism, and of course trueness to the characters that you capture so well was on target (Though I must admit, I shuddered a little in regards to Asuka being patient. It truly is NOT one of her virtues ROTFL XD!). We as humans seem to forget, especially in this day and age, how powerful words are. They can warm the coldest heart, but it can break the biggest. It can bring peace to a country, but it can destroy it with just one word. You pointed that out realistically in accordance to Rei. I can truly see her doing something like that, especially when it comes from someone who once hated her with a passion like our resident Red Devil of NGE. And once again, Shinji manages to save the day (I expect no less from him taking care of his 'harem', if you know what I mean LMAO XD.). You're on your way to becoming a great ShinjixRei writer (Just don't forget about ShinjixMisato okay LOL XD?). Once again, a SUPERB job my old friend. Take care of yourself as always ;). Later :)!
