abuseFor some reason, I read most of the fic with David in mind. My surprise at seeing it was Colby was mingled with his own that his team believes he's a double-agent. It was kind of neat to go back to "The Janus List" and listen to his confession, since it *is* pretty carefully worded.

I like how you describe their similarities that go beyond the superficial, especially the part about escaping their hometowns.

"...as strongly as you know he can trust you." The last few paragraphs really drove home how badly everything has been affecting Colby, and how much he wishes it hadn't happened, as well as the burden of his secret.

I also thought it was neat that all of the quotes pulled were paired, up until the last ones, when they're broken by paragraphs, just as they were split as former-partners.

Thank you for sharing. This was a lovely read.

P.S. - The third quote is taken from "The Art of Reckoning". May I ask what episodes you mention when you refer to the shooting in the "not-quite-abandoned warehouse", and the one a month later?

abuseAw. And I don't mean "aw" as in cute, but "aw" as in deep and sad. And also "aw" as in awe, because this was really good. You wrote this amazingly - I always admire people who can write solid, coherent stories in first person present (because I can't, at all). And although Colby seems to be a tough guy who wouldn't have such sentimentality, I can easily see this as the feelings he never expresses. The end was so sad, though...:( I just hope the two of them can patch it up somehow. I really don't want Colby to leave. Anyway, incredible writing, displaying the truth inside the heart of an agent. Thanks for this - it's a favourite, to be sure.

abuseI had to reread - to realise that it's from Colby's pov rather than Davids.

You left me whimpering.

abuseOops, I've been out of town and just found your story. Well done, again! It has been interesting to see the same story from different perspectives.

abuseIt may be the 263rd take on the finale, but when it is done as well as this one, you don't mind. I really liked the direct quotes from the show. They kept the focus on the partnership between David and Colby. Looking forward to you and your muse getting things worked out.

abuseYes. There are so many of these fics out there, but yours does stand alone. It's a take on Colby's point of view and it's really believable; you captured what we all "hope" is going through his mind and what we "pray" is going to really turn out in Season 4. Magnificant. :)

abuseOkay, you got me. I thought this was David until the last two paragraphs.

Also: ow. Break my heart, why don't you? Of course, I believe that Colby is not in fact a traitor, so this is terribly close to what it could have been like inside his head during those moments.

Ow.
