This is wonderful. I love the idea of them watching static. Most of the time I'm impressed when people capture the character's voices, you've captured the silence and that . . . sounds incredibly pretentious of me. Sorry. Just that Danny's monologue, and Rusty's silence plays in my head exactly like the movies.

Loved the ending.

But Danny knew that movement, knew that Rusty didn't mean to brush the back of his neck just like Rusty didn't mean to stick his hand in your pocket and take your wallet. And your car keys.

That may be the best couple of sentences I've read in a long time. You've got it nailed, my friend. You deserve much praise.
