I've read many interpertations of the endings for Shadow of the Colossus and ICO, but never one that went in the direction that Mono IS the Queen. But now that I've read this I certainly see it as a possibility.

Ah, its been a while since a game has made me think so much. SotC had such a sad ending for me, and apparently in ICO he may have just dreamt meeting Yorda again. But I guess that one's really up to our imaginations too. Maybe there'll be a third game that will explain SotC or ICO more XD.

I agree with the theory that Mono = Queen, and this has supported the idea of it even more for me. Everything fits, and in the such vivid description you have used. I really enjoyed reading this - so beautifully written, full of emotion and gives a new aspect on the Queen which I'm sure many of us have missed; all she wants to do is be reunited with her beloved.

EXTREMELY interesting! I only realized at the end that you'd been talking about Momo the entire time! As a result of this, I think I will forever think of the Queen as Momo reborn, so I commend you! And that certainly connects Wanda to Ico... Let's ignore the fact that you can see the Queen's castle in the distance in SotC :3

It gets a little purple sometimes (though I'm certainly not one to talk about getting too purple), but this is still the best take on the Mono = Queen theory I've seen yet. I may not agree with the theory, but you've done justice to the best aspects of it, and your prose is still very atmospheric and vivid. I particularly enjoyed the descriptions of Yorda and the doves--very much like the game itself, and so lonely.

Fantastic job!

The way that SotC had captivated me made me kick myself for not getting Ico when it was first released and I just got to play the Japanese version which drove me to search for eassays and fics by the fans that nicely link the two games together and I'n glad that yours is the first one that I read :D

This was the best read that I had in a while, I highly appreciate well-plotted stories that are at the same time punctuated with description and information on the characters' motives and backgrounds, factors which are seem to be missing in most works that you find around in this site.

Gotta say, I'm surprised this doesn't have more reviews than it does.

That being said--it's amazingly well written, and the way it ties both plots/games together is great as well. The ending line was perfect too--bittersweet, but somewhat serene at the same time, ya know?

Well, this is beautiful beyond human understanding... I'm blown away. ("...Stay," she finally mouths, lips dyed black with inky blood. "Stay with me a while, beloved." So gorgeous!)

The two stories are beautifully tied together. I especially like Wonder and the Queen's backstory.

It was very interesting to see the story from the Queen's point of view. While I don't necessarily agree with every assumption and connection you've made between the two games, I understand your line of thought and admire the way you wrote this fic. If this is rough and un-beta-ed, then your polished works must be fantastic! Keep writing ^_^

that story was amazing and very discriptive a it really made a connection between the two games. wow that was amazing you should make a fanfic about the third one before it comes one, who knows Ueda could read it and get some ideas (never going to happen) but you can dream cant you.

Beautiful. Truly, absolutely beautiful. I don't think I'll ever be able to look at that final battle quite the same again. It flows wonderfully and though the detail is rich, it doesn't weigh down the story.

I love this as much as 'She' and 'The Redemption'. These three stories seem to be linked with one another so well. The title 'Monochrome' got me from the beginning and my interest never leaves all through the story.

I thought it would be a very sad interpretation to assume that Mono was the Queen; it's still sad, but this story also gave me much of her insight and cause. It has made me more sympathetic to the Queen than any stories have ever done.

And I'd say the ending is bittersweet in a sense. The Queen had done wrong and destroyed many people, but finally she had found the one she sought. They are reunited at last.
