Caught this fic on one of my occasional nostalgic sweeps through this fandom - it was just what I needed to get me back into the mood.

Sweet uncertainty, shadowed possibilities, friendship...pretty much what the doctor ordered.

I also liked your style: you have the atmosphere, word choice, dialogue and characterisation all working together to produce a neatly self-contained vignette.

Very nicely done. Thanks for the read!

Nice work on this fic. You have captured both Nick and Natalie nicely. It's cute how she fell asleep on his couch. ^_^ Thanks for sharing this!!

Wow. I'm literally flabbergasted. This has been a defining moment in my life. A N/N story that I actually *liked.* I'm a die-hard UFer, so this is really something. However, the word "enigmatic" in the summary to describe Nick really caught me, and I read it. Now, the thing I really, really loved about this story is that Nick was in character. I don't blame anyone from back in the hey-day of the FK fandom for writing him out of character, because we all did it, regardless of faction. I think the climate of the DVD era, however, is better for this, because it gives us a chance to see the series from a wider, more neutral perspective, as we never could have then. And in that perspective we see Nick as an extremely contradictory character who is frankly too mercurial for anyone to handle. His rapid mood swings and frequent deceptions at both himself and everyone around him make him very unpredictable, and that is what you portrayed absolutely perfectly in this story. It also showed that humourous and human side of Natalie that so many people neglected in stories which either made her the Perfect Woman or a screeching fish-wife. So, well done on both counts!

Also, I love that last line. "Her friend does" Ah, the lies we tell ourselves! Excellent work.
