I love how you started with the headline that we all dreaded seeing, "SUPERMAN IS DEAD", and follow Perry's deductive reasoning as he learns one of his best reporters is Superman. It wasn't a grandiose "Oh my GOD" moment, but it wasn't a simple "So, Kent is Superman" moment, it was just a great "Clark Kent is Superman for X, Y, and Z reasons and I've got to protect him". Ok, I know I'm not saying this well at all, so I'll just stop. But this really is a great Perry White p.o.v. one-shot. Thanks for sharing it! |

| TorontoBatFan 2007-07-04 ch 1, | abuseNice piece. I think you did a great job both with Perry's emotions and his thought processes. It's only logical that Perry would figure it out. Before becoming editor he was a top reporter himself and could surely pick up the clues. He's like Commissioner Gordon in the Batman comics -he's smart enough to have surely figured out the hero's secret identity, but doesn't say anything out of both respect and friendship. I recall one issue of Batman from a few years ago when Bruce Wayne visits the "Planet" and talks with Perry (as Bruce is the paper's owner). He thinks that Perry is far too good a reporter not to have deduced Clark's secret, just like Jim Gordon is too sharp a cop not have figured out his own secret. |
