abuseI did a fair amount of crying during this, albeit mostly happy tears.
One concern: it almost sounds like Jackie's a single mom again. Or is Pete just at work or something. It's too nice a story to do that to Jackie again. I'd like a sentence or two from Pete just so that's clear.
But other than that, it's wonderful!
Glad that Martha gets him on the right track.

abuseNever seen a "Martha sees a future him with Rose" reunion fic before. I liked your Martha (probably helped that she wasn't travelling with him anymore). I loved the way Rose was convinced his arrival wasn't real and had to be coaxed into believing it--and then when she thought they were only going to have a bit of time together and he promises her forever... *happy sigh*

abuseOh! This story's fantastic! The scene where Rose is fixated by the mirror and the Doctor's reflection gives me goosebumps. The characterization of that scene is spot-on. How she doesn't want to turn around because it (the Doctor) may be an illusion, and she just couldn't face it if it is an illusion is heartbreaking. Wonderful job!!

abuseFantastic reunion story! Not often you come across one in this much detail, it's always how I'd imagine it to be. In most reunion fics, the Doctor and Rose simply meet again, have a bit of a kiss and then just go off as if nothing's happened. It's nice to have a proper version, once again, Fantastic!

abusethis story is so beautiful. I cried twice when i read this. It was the perfect way to have them reunited. i hope you continue this beacuse out of all the the stories of the doctor and rose being reunited this was the most realistic and beautiful.

abuseYou have just written the mother of all fics. And I have just come out of doing some English homework. So prepare yourself for a bloody long review...

And I prepared myself, this time; I gave myself five minutes to compose myself before even starting to review. Seriously. Because this fic was just... guh. Wow. A reunion fic really was the perfect way to end this. Otherwise, you might have sparked off my nervous breakdown. And even though there may be thousands of reunion fics knocking around (I must admit that I really don't read all that many of 'em), you made this completely unique. And I actually liked the fact that you never explained *how*. Rose was right. It would have completely killed the moment.

There were so many brilliant little aspects of this fic that made it really, really special. Like, Rose first seeing him in a mirror reflection. That was just perfect, in suspending the disbelief and the magic of the moment. As well as "Turning around to check would be to find only empty space, and she can’t help but cling to this phantom haunting her heart for every precious second he offers." That line nearly broke my heart (again). And the idea about Alice in Wonderland. That was beautiful. Oh oh! The image of him kneeling at her feet. That was just... just... wow.

Each of the emotions really were spot-on, though. You really did manage to capture the conflict in their feelings and whatnot. And it was so much more powerful than, "Rose, the Doctor's back! Yay!" The way you had them clinging to one another was really quite breathtaking. And, honestly, my heart was aching for the way they never wanted to let go of each other. Seriously. I could *feel* their emotion. Which is a jolly good thing for a fic to evoke. But what else could the thing do, with lines like, "She wraps her arms around him blindly, pushing in as close as she can as though she is trying to burrow under his very skin, determined that if anything does snatch him from this world then it’s taking her, too."? Exactly.

Then, of course, you skillfully handled the "I love you" issue. So right. So well done. Saying it, but not. I reckon RTD would be proud of that. (And by that, I mean the nice, old RTD who gave us all the phenomenal DoctorRose Moments. Not this S3 changeling we've been give.)“Sometimes,” he whispers, “I don’t think I’ll ever find the words.” I really did stop breathing then. Actually, your writing seriously does play havoc with my breathing and my poor little heart. I ought to get some special insurance policy, the way things are going... Oh,also, the idea of it being the hand-holding which was most significant was fantastic. I am so with you on that one... See, all these details you incorporate! Marvellous.

I loved the gradual way they slipped back into familiarity. Like, the Doctor being unsure of the teasing. Rose eventually coming in with a gibe of her own. It was really beautiful. Them coming together and slowly mending because of it. *sniff* "his kisses gently sew her heart back together." Mm hm.

And the last line = perfection.

The whole thing tied together so well, too. From the Martha conversation, to the Shakespeare quote, to Jackie and her son... you managed to bring in all the aspects of the DW story, really. And the way everything managed to come together really did make it more real. And, y'know, because it was more real, it was more moving and wunnerful...

This review is ridiculously, ridiculously long. I ought to wait until I'm out of analytical mode before reading fanfic. But, really, I don't actually care about the length of this one. Because a fic as awesome as this - and a whole darn series as awesome as this - needs a long review. This series of fics has been so, so wonderful. I really do think I'm gonna end up having withdrawal. But, I spose, I can always go back and read them all again. Many times...

Thank you so, so much for these. :D

abusei meant to review this before but i was away from my computer...
you just kill me. you and your well written, beautifully poetic stories. and speaking of that "is that poetry?" - ha!
what a fab story, luna. many many thanks for making series 3 more palatable...i do miss rose. reading this made me go back and read my very favorite of yours: behind closed doors i think it is. the one from impossible planet. i freakin love that one.
now that martha's gone, will donna make him finally wake up and go and get rose? only catherine tate will know. probably not, but i am also psyched to have donna on board. never the same as rose, but she's gonna be fantastic i think.
