Tears of Mercury 2008-05-11 ch 1,	abuseI'm so glad you've been sucked into the world of Eman fics. We make cannon cool enough to be UC. ;) This was so well-written. I love the idea of Emma coming to Sean after nightmares, and it's so true to the show, too -- for some inexplicable reason, she's always had a way of showing her soft underbelly to him and no one else. Even if she has no idea how to admit she needs help or to ask for it, she still winds up going to him. Your Sean was spot-on. He's grown so much these last few years, which unfortunately gets lost between some weaker writing on the show and a bunch of fans crying "emotional schmuk" every time he shows emotion. But here it's just the right balance and we see why their relationship works (even if the show's writers haven't understood this yet). I also loved that Christine came to warn him. For such a hands-off approach when it comes to Emma, she can be incredibly overprotective and overbearing sometimes, and her telling Sean that he just can't screw up this time had to be nerve-wracking for both of them. The "touch" language you implemented with them was lovely also. Especially when we really saw how, for both of them, it did wind up leading to more verbal communication -- which if I'm not mistaken was rather the point of the one-shot. :) Lovely work. The only thing that bothered me was how you switched points of view. I've glanced over some of your other stories, and it's much better when you stick to one -- it's less cluttered that way.
