It's a wonderfully done fic, really. There are a couple minor spelling and grammar errors, but it's nothing overwhelmingly distracting. You write Balthier quite well. Keep it up.

that was wonderfully done.
perfectly in character all of it, and a sweet take on balthier's version of it, along with bringing in a little more romance between the two sky pirates again.
altogether incredibly lovely (:
consider it on my favourites list

I loved this story. The first paragraph made me grin in anticipation. I loved Balthier's voice. It was true and clear, and remained so throughout the story. The only problem is you put too much into it. Less than half way through, the grit and gist of the story is lost in the excess of flowery language. We know Balthier is a flowery language person, but you put a bit too much into it which made ths story seem wordy and stuffy. *clasps hands together* please oh please don't take this as a flame! I truly enjoyed the story right up to the end, especially the bits that dived into Balthier's backstory and his relationship with Fran. All very well done. I commend you. Even your title was pretty awesome.

The first sentance made my eyes widen - I was very impressed at your writing and literary technique! Not only was the flow of the writing smooth and easy to understand, you also kept Balthier's character perfectly in tact with each and every adventure he spoke of. I found myself reliving the game pleasantly through a new view, and finding new things about the characters and game as I read.

I like the Virgo, Libra, etc. etc. you put in the story as his entries. Your detail was superb and the way Balthier explained how he saw each character in almost every situation made me laugh with humor or contemplate on how he came about the assumptions of each person. I really did feel like I was reading the lost diary of a slightly melodramatic sky-pirate!

I enjoyed the little bits about Vossler's point of view on the pirate's and how Balthier took that, along with Balthier's little tidbits on Vaan's antics. Some of the other more serious parts set the mood right to your tone of writing, such as Balthier's reminiscing on his past with his father, or his angry bitterness toward nethicite which drove his father in a mad fury away from his only son.

It was easy to understand the worry Balthier had for losing Fran at the Eruyt Villag on encountering Jote, and the bond of the two [Balthier and Fran] was nicely portrayed with each entry mentioning the two.

Once again I compliment you on the imagery and detail you put in with each entry of Balthier's. His thoughts were almost never out of character, though sometimes it lacked the mor whimsical side of our Leading Man. Though it lacked that, you showed a definate romantic side of the sky pirate to his partner Fran, which was always something not-so-easy to confirm in the game itself, seeing as Balthier was certainly a womanizer. I'm not one for Fralther/Balfran/what have you, but the few scenes of his entries were tolerable. Haha. ;D

Probably my favorite part, though, was Libra 19 in the Phon Coast with the Madhu. I was caught in a fit of giggles at the idea of a tipsy Penelo and overly loud Vaan - oh, how out of character for them both, yet so, so easy to imagine that it is almost an oxymoron in itself!

The way you had the character-interaction with Fran and Balthier was very easy to understand at times, such as when Balthier was inconsoloble, it was only when Fran was not there. I took a few mental notes on this and might use something to that effect in my own fan fiction.

One of the most touching scenes was that of the sky being Balthier's and Fran's home. It was cute, I guess I should say. I was mildly surprised that Vaan only saw things as how they were when Fran and Balthier tried to explain about what their home was, seeing as Vaan had such a lust for freedom. But, he is... well, VAAN. So I guess that is his excuse. xD

The ending was certainly touching, though probably not as much to the effect on this reader as you might have hoped to others. Seeing as I'm not a Fralthier fan, I wasn't as touched as a Fralthier fan might have been, but still it made me feel a little warm 'n fuzzy.

Overall, beautiful story, amazing character interaction and developtment, and amazing writing. Favorited on both authors and stories.

The writing style is certainly unique; first-person with a diary-esque twist... A literary wonder, indeed. :)
