I always wondered if it had something to do with the second prosthetic that caused his alchemy to not work... I wonder if it's just because 'our' Germany's world just uses something else for alchemy. Like the difference between Alchemy and Rentanjutsu.

Your story is so realistic, I am having a marvelous time trying to figure out what is something real, and what you just made up for the story. You really seem to know your facts and sow them into the story seemingly effortlessly (though I pale at the thought of trying to do it myself).
I hope this tale is continued soon; I can't wait to see how it turns out. Every time I am convinced it is about to reach the climax, a new twist is introduced and I am forced to remind myself Edward is still MIA and that there is still a plethora of other mysteries I can't wait for your tale to further explore.
My current muse on Ed's whereabouts is suggesting he is held captive by the Thule society; his blood and memories being extracted to further their studies of alchemy.

I have to say, the conversation Armstrong and Al had about the soul alchemy was just perfect!

I also really enjoyed the world of the gate reflecting their most powerful thoughts, to show the memories, images and KNOWLEDGE, that was a cool addition to this canon.

And the think with Ed drawing on his bedsheets, omg that was just so Ed. I will have to squee at you later about this chapter overall too. XD

Yeah, now we're getting somewhere. Both Al and Alfons now realize the existence of each other's world, and they are further apart than just a block or a country away. The problem for Al is convincing the adults of this.

This is a wonderful piece of writing. You've captured everyone's personality so well and added a new, deeper side to Alfons's character. I've always been fascinated with him - sad that he had such a relatively small part in the movie. I even considered writing a story about his history, once (until I realized I needed to do so much research...) My point is, I am very glad to see such a well-written story for Alfons.

I was also quite impressed with your diction and syntax. You make great use of language and don't try to overload the reader with intelligent vocabulary; it's in balance. And wonderful imagery.

Overall, very refreshing writing. Thank you for posting this.

It is very rare for me to find a well-written piece of literature on this site nowadays and by happy chance I came across yours! Excellent writing, absolutely captivating! I especially love how you have been able to flesh Alfons' character out from the two-dimensional character he was in the movie. Oh God, that vial. It contains Edward's blood, doesn't it. Oh God, what are they doing? KEEP WRITING, YOU WONDERFUL PERSON. I enjoy the mystery and the obsession. I enjoy Alfons' and Alphonse's analysis of the world around them and new information as it unfolds.

When I finished this chapter, I let out a long breath that I had forgotten I was holding. Now Al finally knows. This is an amazing story, with excellent phrases that I often end up re-reading just to savor. Keep up the good work, you wonderful writer, you.
