Hmm. I would say it's Alanna and George. It feels right, plus the line about all the children being grown with families of their own only fit those two during the war with the Scanrans. I initially thought Jon and Thayet, but that was crossed off rather quickly. Not Numair and Daine, either because they didn't have a child until much later on (if not the end of the war, then very near it).

Very wonderfuly written. Moving, even. The anonymity of it made it more personal somehow. Bravo.

it HAS 2b Numair!

I can't make a guess who this is about, but it doesn't matter. Even nameless, this moved me so much, so sad in its simplicity. Loved the haunting refrain of more time, and the turnaround from that to wishing he would not have much more time to wait. My favourite line is 'He had lived before he met her, but he could not remember how'. Brilliant.

wow, that was moving. i nearly cried. i thnk of it aa DomKel fic cause they were both in the north durring the war and their schedules didn't coordinate and th eline about him wishing that he had found his way to her sooner made me think of all the the time Kel liked him and didn't admit it. i always thought that he had a thing for kel.

I was just dropping by and saw this, and it's very sad. yes, i know, Captian Obvious, but i just mentioned this to show it is an unusual read for me. Normally i only read happy stuff, but this piqued my puzzle curiosity. I read it three times, pondered, read it once more, then settled for George, or Numy as a back-up.

My first thought was immediately Numair, but I think that's because the second sentence reminded me very much of a drabble I'd written about him and Daine. I think it's George now though, because Alanna and George hadn't seen each other for over a year at the start of Trickster's Choice, so they were most definitely not in the same fief during the Scanran war! The only other sentence that makes me think it's Numair is "What if he’d somehow found his way to her sooner?"

Anyway, it's very well written, although the first sentence seems to be in another tense to the rest of the piece. Is that intentional?

ohh that is so SAD. for some reason, i thought it was george, but there you go. very good.

you know, i actually cant think of anyone who would fit into it for some reason. for the first part,i thought it was numair, except he doesnt really talk like that, so im really not sure. oh well, it was sadbut good.
