Absolutely brilliant story, I love it! :) (I've been watching/reading Lois&Clark for the past couple of weeks so it really suits my mood, too.)
Good thing the Kryptonite lightsaber at least doesn't hurt him just by being near him. (At least, I think that's the way it works?) And I have a sneaking suspicion that this golden lightsaber that he just got emits yellow sun radiation, that's why it's so good for him... :) Does that mean he'd still have powers even far from a yellow sun, if he switches on the lightsaber? (Maybe not on the level they would be, but at least some powers?) Guess I'll see ;)
Well, I'm off to read...

Another very good installment to this series! I guess love and duty are the irresitible force and unmovable objects for your plot. I can see what you mean about Kyle Katarn...does his jedi potential become realized in part 3? Does Mara leave the emporer of her own free will? I find it amusing and frustrating that the only thing that hurts Kale is his stubborn since of morality/love and luck. Are you making a tie to the Masters of Teras Kasai game (I'm uncertain if the novels expanded anything on her beyond the game) with the way Mara's hand ended up? On side note, it's very weird when one looks at the movies for Star Wars and games, etc to see the discrepancies for technology throughout the Star Wars timeline(and not just the special effects available at the time)...that the imprisoned Kryptonians were easily cowed with such advanced technology but the emporer didn't think to use on Kale. Still very cool way to introduce them to the plot. It does makes me wonder if the whole cloning issue of the emporer could have amalgamated the Kryptonian genetics through sith alchemy to make a super emporer that Kale would have to track down?...Maybe for a part 4? Can't wait to get started on your third installment. Please don't take this critcisms too harshly. You're doing a fantastic job. I like how compact the writing is. And so what if you're not doing it to someone else's preferences...you're still doing a better job than most of your critics, I imagine. I know I can't write worth a damn and really appreciate what you and several other writers on this site have accomplished. It's one of the best forms of entertainment, free or paid, that I've had! Keep on truckin'!

Sorry it took me so long to get to this. I read Part One a few weeks ago, and a bunch of stuff got in my way, so that I was only able to read a chapter or two at a time until today, when I read the last six chapters in one go.

This was an excellent follow-up to 'Legacy of the Red Sun', very much an ESB to Part One's ANH, as you mentioned in an author's note. Firstly, I liked that you included Kyle Katarn, one of my other favorite Expanded Universe characters, and elements of his story. The chapter title 'Governor Jerec is a Big Fat Idiot' made me laugh out loud.

I liked the inclusion of Pal-Awa, the first Kryptonian to come to the GFFA, and the story behind him. Being not as knowledgeable of the Superman mythos as I am of Star Wars, I wondered if he was based on something from Superman, or whether he's entirely a product of your imagination. Wicked creative, if he is.

I also liked the further development of Kale's character in this story, similar to the maturation of Luke Skywalker during ESB, ending with the spectacular climax at the Valley of the Jedi(bonus points for including it) and the scene between him and Mara there, which I'll say more about later.

Speaking of Mara, I'm glad you're keeping her in character in this series. She reads just like she does in the books by her creator, Timothy Zahn, acting just the way one would expect her to in this set of circumstances at this point in her life. I just wanted to point that out as especially well done.

The other established characters were all well done as well, from Darth Vader to Yoda, and though it was understandably brief, their confrontation was a highlight of the story. I've wondered what would happen if Yoda fought Darth Vader, so more bonus points for including that, as well.

The creative way in which Han Solo acquires the Falcon in this story was good, as was the Cloud City sequence, and the differences from the original story you injected made the finale of the story uniquely exciting, at once reminiscent of ESB and also enough to support the story on its own. That's what I liked about Part One, and it continues on in 'The Empire's Revenge'; You don't have to be fanatically familiar with either Star Wars or Superman to enjoy them, but it does help if you've seen the movies and read some of the backstory.

Lots more spectacular acts of destruction from Kale, possibly even surpassing what he did in the first story, and now that he's learning to use the Force, I'm sure Part Three will be similarly impressive. The scene where he takes on the Imperial landing force near the beginning was very cool, though the part where he takes out the Super Star Destroyer was just incredible.

Okay, time for the standout scene: The descriptions of the Valley of the Jedi were among the best I've seen of your work, and painted a fantastic mental picture. It was like watching a movie up there in my imagination, accompanied by swelling music, composed by John Williams, of course. ;) Excellently done. As I mentioned in my review of the first story, you've got definite talent.

Overall, a worthy sequel to your first story, and a great piece of fiction on its own. I'll go start on Part Three right now, and hopefully it won't take me three weeks to finish it this time. ;) Great job!

Wow! I had to read this amazing story in one shot before I could review it. It just blew me away every second I took to catch more of it :) I am especially amazed by how well you blended the SW and Supey universes, bringing into play elements that I never thought could be used together in a believable way :) I really loved how you portrayed the characters in this AU, remaining faithful to them while taking into account the changes that you put them through.

Superb work once again, dear!! Thanks once more for sharing that awesome story with us, and can't wait to find time to catch up with the third installment ;)

Love

Ak!

Well, that's one (badass) way to use kryptonium. Go Vader!

Er... I hope Kale's ok?

Uh oh. Not goods. That ** had better have a change of heart and/or get killed. She is seriously ** me off. "He speaks in my head." whine, whine. Get over it.

I snorted a bit with the "I am your father" bit, though it seems more amusement could have been wrung out of it... or maybe the joke is just too done. Ah wells...

Maybe Kale will actually gain useful Force skillz when it is known that he can be kryptonited? Oh, please to the gods... nothing irks me more than Superman being all arrogant and then not even moving as someone hits him with some. Being invulnerable is cool- but get some moves you big dummy...

Anyway... good start. Yes.

The blending between Superman and Star Wars is amazing. It doesn't seem at all forced.

To the boba fett part, fair enough, but that mans been 'dead' more often than not and then come back when least expected lol.

Feeling more an more sorry for Mara. they could at least have sprung for a decent robot hand for the poor girl lol.

Loving how Kale has grown over the last two, and cant wait to see him battling it out with Zod and the other Kryptonians - although wasn't Zod one of the Phantoms (going by Smallville's Phantom Zone anyway). looks like an opportunity for him to really cut loose - Like Superman vs Darkseid at the end of JLU :-)

Great stuff, roll on the third story... which i suspect will be finished before Batman ever appears lol... ive got writers block at the moment, and the only way i can see to progress is to borrow a scene from Batman Begins...

Woot, baby! Can't wait for the next installment! I was gone for the weekend and now I have a kabillion stories to read through. Yours was one of the first on the list, so you get a coherent review. By the time I get to the end, I think my reviews will have degraded to one-word sentences or a jumble of random letters from where my head landed on the keyboard. Fun.

Just read this and the first story. Very interesting. Most of it went exactly where I expected, but some of the more unique aspects caught me pleasantly by surprise.
Also, I'm impressed by the depth of involvement in the universe your story possesses. Like Rahn's comment to Jerec on what Jocasta Nu saw in him. Marvelous.
I will be adding this to my alert list, and I can't wait for the next chapter.

My only criticism is that Mara is a bit fluffy, but Kal El does affect people that way.

Keep writing!
