Simblyne 5/25/12 . chapter 1
Absolutely amazing fic. Short and concise, but it makes an impact, doesn't it? i really like malcolm. he is such an interesting character and I'd love to see more of him, I feel like he represents pretty much any impressionable, slightly cynical first year out there who unwittingly gets tossed into the Slytherin/Gryffindor feud. what's amazing is that he plays a pretty typical role, but you've managed to balance the stereotype with a quick peek into an interesting personality so that he still manages to be his own character. pretty fantastic, there. which is in addition to explaining, not through the words of a Gryffindor who's had an epiphany (these speeches call to mind the image of puppies chasing rainbows through sunny meadows), nor through a Slytherin with Gryffindorish tendencies (the stranded Gryffindor-Slytherin who somehow manages to transform Pansy Parkinson & co. into respectable people with a shred of human decency for others), how the rivalry between the Houses shapes personalities and possibly entire lives. It's just scary, really.

Sometimes i feel like the JK gave the Slytherins the short end of the stick. I get that Harry and his friends were preoccupied with Voldemort, but did he really never consider that there might be one person, in the hundreds of Slytherin students, who wasn't that bad? Who might just be succumbing to peer pressure and the prominent pureblood families wielding money, power, and influence with the Ministry AND the school board? Slytherin must be the hardest house to be in, what with 75% of the school thinking you're rotten to the core and your own Housemates willing to make life hell for you if you didn't make the effort to hate Harry Potter. It might have been the nature of the children/YA novel, to simplify things so that Slytherin Voldemort bad, but maybe because the series primarily targets kids it seems important to recognize the causality between vilifying someone based on preconceived notions and that said someone acting like a douchebag.

anyways, just an excellent one-shot. added to my favorites and I'm off to read your other stories.

a very interesting and cruel yet accurate portrayal. the little gryffindor in me protests, but I quite agree. Slytherin is very interesting isn't it. Have you read A Model of Decorum and Tranquility, I think you will like it. I just wish J.K had shown that more Slytherins were willing to fight at Hogwarts, because by not showing that she just proved that an average students thoughts are right, meaning just being in Slytherin makes you evil. I am cunning and ambitious, but that does not mean I will hurt others to get my way. anyway nicely written.

Wow. That was good. Certainly different. Something from a Slytherin's point of view. Excellant

I've never really thought about it that way. Your POV fics are very well written and thought-out. Keep up the good work!
Storm of Illusions 10/14/02 . chapter 1
Interesting. It's strange to see it from Malcolm POV. It gives us something to think about like: The Evil is REALLY evil, or is it something of Points of Views?

I was completely repulsed by Fred and George's hissing in GoF, and have always felt rather sorry for Malcom Baddock. Nice to see it from Malcolm's POV. The dialgoue was very good, and Malcolm was an interesting character.

totally awesome...totally real. I like it like that...some ppl do these things where malfoy acts like...a fairy, basically. Glad to see that you didn't.
Crystalite 104 1/5/02 . chapter 1
That IS unfair... I guess Slytherins aren't the ONLY evil ones...
Cheeky Girl 11/18/01 . chapter 1

irisbleufic 9/23/01 . chapter 1
Strange, how biterness begets bitterness. And so, Slytherins are made, for better or for worse. So brilliant...
KC Selby 9/10/01 . chapter 1
That's really good. A nice introspective look on the Slytherin House. It seems that they're not as nasty as they seem, at least at teh beginning.
bluemeanies 9/3/01 . chapter 1
hmm... original choice for perspective and a lovely rant against the reputations of certain houses.
The Cynic 8/11/01 . chapter 1
I love your shorts... you should try writing something longer, especially about Slytherins. _ Wow, you really captured the prejudice against the Slyths, and I love Malcolm... what an unfortunate name. Still, he's such a cool kid. A nice combination of innocence and cynicism. As much as I love Fred and George, I have to agree that they do go over board quite a lot. Hm, what else can I say? Oh yes. All Slytherins aren't bad, people! Look at poor Malcolm! Hoo-ray. Write more, BrieflyDel, and I'm adding this to my favorites, then. :)

most people just leave the Slytherins as a stereotype. You did a cool thing by trying to look past that and see what makes people become bullies
PepperjackCandy 8/2/01 . chapter 1
This is an excellent look at how the Slytherin/Gryffindor rivalry is perpetuated.
