A one-shot will probably be at least twice as long as a normal chapter. 350 words is not even enough to be a proper chapter. Where is your plot? Your initial set-up, your denoument, rising action, climax, etc. Sure you could point to a sentence here, a sentence there, but you have a paucity of vivid details. Study an Edgar Allen Poe short story. He was a master of the form, and emulating him can only improve you. |
