Reviews for Gifts

Aziraphale giving him the Bentley? Doesn't that mean the first owner was technically 'Zira?
Funny story!
ElvendorkInfinity 4/13/13 . chapter 1
I figured it was the Bentley about halfway through and grinned. And I have to say, officially headcanon now that Aziraphale gave it to him. XD
TechnicolorHeart 8/17/08 . chapter 1
This is great! I had no idea it was the Bentley he was staring at, that was a pleasant surprise. I love your characterizations- especially the details. Aziraphale's confusion is both very funny and true to form. It's a lovely fic. Well done!
m-erechyn 1/24/08 . chapter 1
The whole thing is short and sweet (which I adore) and the last line makes it perfect. (Though umm... spelling error? perfectly, not prefectly. Sorry, I'm nitpicking...)

And I also love the little awkwardness between them. They've been around for a long time, but they're still not quite human, and they're still not quite friends-friends, either.
Kirah Ruth 11/6/07 . chapter 1
Ruth: The idea of the Bentley being a gift from Aziraphale is one that makes us smile uncontrollably.

Kirah: Just thought you should know. Hey- *Looks around and just-slightly-different surroundings* I think we're in a new fandom now.

Ruth: So we are. Fancy that.
Little Lady Mab 10/18/07 . chapter 1
Ahhaha! That was so cute!

Lovely. Might explain why Crowley takes such good care of the car.

[ZOMG LOVE Good Intentions is always good. And these two are so cool. Such a pair. I’m not much for Buddy Flicks With Obligatory Gay Innuendo but they… yes. Obviously, as I have pimped the book because it is so much fun.]

Haha. The first two lines win, because I’m already laughing and I don’t even know why yet.

"Er. Really, I didn't know what you would like. I still owe you over the Titanic - would've been awful if that drafted treaty between Austria-Hungary and the States had made it to New Amsterdam."

- Adoration. That is SO, you know, those people. Gaiman and Pratchett. Those little historical-ish jokes. Plus yayz for New Amsterdam, because I read about NYC for some project and it makes me happy ever since.

“Crowley's mind rejected the concept of an angel - even Aziraphale - doing anything worthy of his staring, and grasped at the new subject with frantic desperation.”

- The little things. Yes.

"It's York. New York. The Yanks changed it."

- Ooh, I didn’t get that he didn’t notice the change. So precious.

“… whose grasp of current events was limited to developments in printing technologies and budding new religious sects.”

- Seriously, you have an uncanny ability to write Like That.

"I'm not recovering. Not even convalescing."

- Oh the distinctions of words. JOY.

Now it’s driving me nuts not knowing. I was distracted up till now. Yousa play dirty.

“He looked at the papers that a very confused salesman had drawn up with the full intention of making Aziraphale sign away much more of his soul than the papers actually attested to.”

- Classic. *hug*

"Looked like the kind of thing you would like. Also came in white."

- I’m sorry, I can’t help but think of the book. Black and white variations.

"Er. But I thought that you would like black better. Yes."

- Yes! And black. La. You know my domino mind. …Which was a reference to things leading to other things, not black and white, though most dominoes are, I believe.

“Crowley now dared to touch it. It felt solid. He pushed on it a little, and it stoically pushed back.”

- Something so comforting about things pushing back.

“Aziraphale wasn't sure - he hadn't quite got the hang of reading expressions, and Crowley hadn't quite got the hang of showing them.”

- I like that the best, in a different way. ‘Love enough to break a heart.’ I’ve been on a human vs. not kick, with Illyria and Tiffany Aching and everything.

“It wasn't until the next time he saw Crowley, ten years later, driving a perfectly maintained decade-old Bentley, that he understood that Crowley had liked the gift.”

- Aww! Oh the BENTLEY! That is The Car, yes? I should go check but I claim laziness. Oh love.
Sambucivox 7/26/07 . chapter 1
I always wondered where Crowley got his car. Aw. I like the "I still owe you about the Titanic", that makes both of them really dettached from the human world, in a "i can see the big picture" kind of way.

Aziraphale is the cutest.
Musegaarid 7/25/07 . chapter 1
I really enjoyed this! It was short, but didn't feel like it needed to be longer. And you've got Crowley down pat...

"I'm not recovering. Not even convalescing." Perfect!

Thanks for sharing. ;)
