Dayari 2008-04-23 ch 1,	abuse(Yay, it's April 24th! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JULIE! hugs you ^_^) You know, I keep skipping through my TF fic bookmarks, only to find that a good amount of them are by you! (Okay, I found "Chaperone" a long while back, just a few days after I'd seen the movie and got into the TF fandom as a whole. But it's still funny to somehow find you everywhere all of a sudden, both on LJ and here XD) All right, on to the fic. Do I even need to say that I love it to bits? You know, it's one of the fanfics I can read time and time again without getting tired of them, and it also got me hooked on the Ironhide-and-the-Lennox-family theme in the first place. It's so... oh God, it's so CUTE, despite Dirk being all shades of the word 'bastard' and the rather dark topic of rape. I keep getting all teary-eyed because of the cuteness that is Ironhide and Annabelle, no matter how often I read this XD So, first off, I was very astonished but also delighted to find that you didn't make Annabelle the cute little angel of the family that everybody loves and adores 24/7, but that you rather displayed her as the normal, not-so-well-behaved, rebellious, reckless teenager she probably is. I also like that her parents chose to rely on Ironhide to protect their daughter during the part of her life when she doesn't want her parents' protection anymore and actually rebels against it. Of course every adolescent out there doesn't want to be protected by anyone and rather explore the world on his or her own, but it must be very reassuring for her parents to know that she is protected even when Annabelle herself doesn't know who is making sure of her safety in the first place. :) Especially with what they've gone through with Belle already... emergency room, oh God! That must have been so awful and even traumatizing for Will and Sarah. I can't imagine what it must be like to see your own daughter in a hospital bed because she drank too much! :/ I don't know about the USA, but here in Germany, it's more "usual" for boys to get drunk like that, not necessarily for girls. The more Will and Sarah must have doubted their qualities as parents... aw, I feel all sorry for them all of a sudden. XD cough But let's get back to the point! Generally, teenager!Annabelle came across so well that I actually had to fight the urge to grin several times. Like, with her being disgusted at her parents' display of affection, so to speak - /so/ like me when I was 15! XD Her insisting on being called "Belle" rather than "Anna" is so adorable, actually ;) I can sympathize with that, I also like only /one/ single nickname and absolutely won't listen to all the others. When she actually has to remember to call herself "Belle" in her thoughts, I just had to squee because it's so in-character for someone who is in the middle of becoming an adult - she has high expectations on herself, and all but does everything in her power to appear more grown-up, maybe also to reassure herself of the fact that, though she might still feel like it sometimes, she isn't a little girl anymore. XD hugs her This also shows during the almost-rape scene when she thinks that she shouldn't call her dad "Daddy" anymore. Not only does that thought emphasize all the "I'm growing up, watch out, world" mojo, it also displays the state of shock she's in very well, I think. With the "active" part of her mind concentrating on the actually events and some distant thoughts interfering in a seemingly pointless manner, she really did seem traumatized to me. I felt so sorry for her, I wanted to give her a hug, seriously ^^; And Ironhide, oh God. uses a trampoline to actually be able to hug him I know that "cute" is probably not exactly the right word to describe a giant alien robot with two really, really big cannons who is actually a weapon specialist too, but... HE IS SO DARN CUTE, he all but gives me cavities! XD; dies And I felt so sorry for him that I actually had to sniffle a bit when he tried his best /not/ to be intimidating for once with Annabelle in the park, and found that it just doesn't work. Of course it's not his fault that he's really tall, and that Belle was already downright freaked out, but still, that must have hurt a little :/ hugs him again just for the heck of it XD His self-doubting (and my inner voice that was like, "No, no, you're awesome as you are!") gets even more pronounced when he has a little time to himself to think about the recent events, and I think that you captured his state of mind just perfectly with this sentence: "Ironhide had never been good at little details, or dealing with humans, or even other Transformers, or basically anything that wasn’t barging in, cannons blazing, to fight the problem face-to-face." You hit the proverbial nail on the head there, Julie :) It was really heart-breaking to see Ironhide feel so guilty and insufficient ;_; I really hope he'll come around one day and realize he's just great as he is. Cos' you know, I think that he actually is the Autobot who was affected by the Cybertronian war the most, in a certain way. He has been fighting for so long that he is at a loss when it comes to things that don't involve any sort of immediate action, and you wrote him so well that I could clearly see him having a hard time adjusting to Earth's peace. But maybe he felt a little more at ease with himself when Belle proved her trust in him by asking him to accompany her to college? I really hope so. Ironhide seems like the biggest grouch ever, while we all knew that he's just a big softie inside. (Oh, I know I'm going to hell for saying that.) Um, just a few things I noticed that you might want to correct... absolutely no offense meant of course, everyone makes typos ;) "She was wrapped up into her mothers arm" I think you meant "her mother's arms," didn't you? "Thank you, Ironhide, for being there for you." Rather "being there for her," probably. "keeping on eye on her" Should be "an eye on her," I guess. The long and short of it - I hope to see more of you with Belle and 'Hide one day, though you're probably less than inclined to write about them, now that you're totally wrapped up in the universe of OCs grin Either way, I enjoyed this so, so much, and can just compliment you again. Awesome work!! (As always.)

Tiger5913 2007-11-01 ch 1,	abuseI read this on LJ, but I came here and just had to leave a review as well. :) I know you from fanfic rants, so hopefully none of my reviews are annoying enough to make you rant about it, hehe. ^^ So anyway, I really liked this story and I was surprised to discover that it came from the same person who wrote the "Alien" fic. :D I'm pleased that you handled such a touchy, sensitive subject so well, and you made the characters so realistic, as usual. How sweet that a sarcastic brute like Ironhide could mellow out so much and becoming caring, as was portrayed in your fic. I guess he must've gotten tired of Sarah beating his leg with a rolling pin every time he did something wrong, eh? XD I hope that one day, you will consider writing a follow-up story to this, showing Annabelle taking Ironhide to college. Well, tata for now! (By the way, the SamxMikaela fan in me is really hoping that 30-year-old Mikaela is still with a 30-year-old Sam in the timeframe of this story, hehe.)

And yes, she did need "straightening up", seems it worked in a single year, too ;) IH and Belle both have problems socializing, as it seems, and you did good sticking them together ^..^

Ironhide's unsureness was definitely something I appreciated, 'cause he's not the most social bot in creation... Especially to Chihuahuas. :3 Good, short fic, the pacing is also pretty good. The ending gave me a fuzzy 'aw' feeling. That and I wanna kick Dirk in the balls, too.
