Serotonin Storm 2007-08-26 . chapter 4I read this last night, so there's no need to reread it. I'll try and remember some intelligent things to say. Okay, let me look over it one more time. Refresher.
...So, I lose. I read the whole thing over. I must say, it was more amazing the second time. Some of those lines I rushed over getting to the end were just brilliant.
I forgot that you were the one who was so fond of the parentheses. They're witty, honestly. For that reason, I wouldn't use them in too many stories. It would ruin the effect. I saw them in a few of your other ones that I haven't commented on yet, and will not do tonight, for it will soon be six-thirty in the morning.
I'm not sure about the believabilty of a lot of your Houses and Wilsons. But I actually don't think it matters if you've got their personalities down pat, because your stories are uniquely focused on thoughts and sensations rather than dialogue and personality. The tidbits of the charcters were convincing enough, if possibly not exactly spot on.
I really enjoyed the fact that it was from second person, something I haven't seen from you before and that you should, again, not overuse. It was something fresh and new in the voice of an author I've throughout the night become familiar with. I like that in this one, there's no rule moment where they slip over the edge. It's a lot of little touches and a lot of words that take themselves where they're meant to go. I'm especially fond of your beginning, though I couldn't really tell you why. All the thoughts in this narrative are so clear, so utterly believable. Do you fancy yourself like Wilson, or connect with him? You only use him, and you do it so well.
So, is this finished? If it isn't, I can't wait to read the end. In all honesty, though, I really think it could be left there. It's a nice wrap. All your endings are terrific, so either way, it doesn't really.
Alright, that's the end of my readathon. I read a few more of your pieces that I didn't comment on yet, but I'm not really supposed to be on this late (early), so I'm off. Thanks for posting all the brilliant work. |
