Hey awesome story! It has a great plot and you have developed the characters really well. That was an excellent reference to Dune. It really is very Vulcan. Update soon please.

Tell me of the waters of your homeworld Usul.

Haven't read Dune in years - I'll have to get that out again. One of the few books that's good for a re-read every few years.

Hopefully some mate-bonding will help T'Pol (nudge nudge wink wink). As always - love watching the mature interaction and development. Trip's training is coming right along - all she has to do is teach him the Weirding way and he'll be all set.

I have to say I like this fic, I actually thought a while back a story about a human and a vulcan marooned on an alien planet would be really interesting. And what do you know, a little while ago I found this fic.

I've been over looking some of the chapters between here and when they arrived at this community and I can't find the place where T'pol tells Trip about the cover story of them being married or whatever.

Interesting, T'Pol suffering from her illness, I forgot all about that. I love the way you move their relationship along, now Trip is disconcerted with T'Pol's closness and she really can't figure that one out?

I may be a total dweeb, but what does Polly Farr mean?

Thanks for another super chapter!

It amazing how two such incredibly intelligent people can be so oblivious to what the other person is feeling. Trip can't see that something is driving T'Pol beyond the normal need to survive. He doesn't have a clue that she's concerned about her health, that her passing might leave him unable to survive on his own. And she desperately wants him to survive. T'Pol can't see that, as they grow closer to one another, Trip is falling in love with her -- perhaps because she will not fulling acknowledge how her feelings toward him are changing.

The danger here is that I don't think Trip understands that he's meant to survive on his own. He thinks he's learning these new skills so that he won't endnger them both, so that he can pull his own weight. Somewhere down the road for him to be suddenly blindsided by the fact that she's dying -- something she's known all along but withheld from him -- would be devastating. Maybe she feels that if he knew now -- with the loss of Enterprise and the deaths on his conscience -- it would only push into a depressed state more quickly. She needs to realize how much he's growing to rely on her.

I'm glad Trip's the student and not me. I'm not sure I could ever do what he's being asked to do. He's already pulling even with Malcolm's skills and preparing to shoot right on past him. Assembling a scanner with his eyes closed while working mentally on another problem -- YEOW! And she's only now preparing to get tough! The mind boggles.

If and when they get back to Enterprise, I wonder if this will have an impact on Trip on a day to day basis. After his initial relief at being back has passed, will his job be enough for him. I don't think he'd ever become an adrenalin junkie, and working on Enterprise does have its share of dangers, but just on an every day basis, would he be more interested in working out in the gym, spending time with the weapons, looking for more time on away missions, etc.? T'Pol certainly recognizes what a life-changing experience this is becoming for him, as she mourns the passing of the innocent, happy-go-lucky man she'd met on her first day on Enterprise. I always thought that Trip would eventually settle into a job in research and development and be quite content. Now I'm not so sure it would be enough for him. And if he did go into R & D, would it be for love of the challenge, to develop a warp 7 engine, or would it be an attempt to hide from his past and the person he'd become?

Forgot to mention this in my first review of chapter 38. Like the subtle way of mentioning of the longing towards T'Pol that Trip feels.

Nice to learn more about Trip training, it's something we can all learn about. The text of Dune was fitting, also the mentioning of the subject Fear as underlying theme.
Trip knows T'Pol has been attacked, so it would be only more logical if she would share her illness with him. They have to know it's other weaknesses, I would think.

Finally can submit reviews on fanfiction. I love this story and this is a very good chapter. I like how you portray the horrors of war and the effect it has on people. The growing closeness of TnT, as greatly decribed in chapter 34 - is also shown here. I can understand Trip is getting a little claustrofobic in the ambulance, I would too.
As much as I like a teasing T'Pol, the fact that she refuses to call Trip Trip puzzles me. She knows Trip is a bit insecure and he has shown that he is very frustrated that she doesn't call him Trip. Maybe she thinks it's a intimate thing, but she did call Archer Jon once, which is also a nickname so to speak. (That's why it bugs me so much).
Maybe she is aware of their growing closeness and this is her way of - without realizing - keeping some distance or she doesn't realize how important her opinion of Trip is to Trip.

Dammit! Now I'm really kicking myself for not having thought about her pa'nar syndrome before. Of course this was going to come up sooner or later now that she's stranded down there. Thankfully, you remembered this, Rigil!

That could prove to be a very interesting development. I can picture T'Pol trying to learn him all she knows, and they get closer in the process. Then when she finally reveals that she has this fatal illness he'll be horrified and try and do whatever he can to help. Hopefully, their mutual meditation and neuro-pressure will help, but I can also see them staring to try mind-melding. And when the Bond forms, who knows, maybe that will be enough to cure the pa'nar, which isn't really a disease, just the after-effects of a screwed up mind meld (or rather mind rape).

Just speculating here. I'm sorry if I accidentally stumbled upon some future events. Anyway, very good and insightful chapter.

Oh, I love "Dune" myself, but I would hate for it to mainly be remembered as a movie (or two or twenty) and not the excellent book it is.

Delightful part. I do hope the Bond between Trip and T'Pol can fix the Pa’nar.

There is a FanFIC somewhere that explains that away. Trip is lacking a Diversity credit from his undergrad CV. This meant that he could not be granted his Masters, and his PhD till that issue was taken care of. A Prig of a Professor had rejected a paper because it was not "correct" in his eyes. By the time that happen Trip was deep in his Master's and later his PhD and repeated submissions were also rejected. In the tale T'Pol clears it up during the time Trip is on Columbia. She edited some of his logs reflecting on their discussions of the Kir'Shara and has Soval journey to the University and present the material in such a way that the Professor is backed in to a corner. Trip gets his BA, Master's and PhD.

Same tale explains why Trip said he learned from boats, in a boat on the open sea you need to make do with what's on hand.

Oh and the specs written by the un-named warp field expect? Written by Trip. No wonder the young man wanted a transfer, he made a total fool of himself in front of his new dept head and everyone there.

Back on topic, when are Trip and T'Pol going to face his attraction to T'Pol? I like the way you are drawing this out, instead of idiot Tucker and fickle T'Pol we have two adults trying to NOT hurt the other.

Looking forward to more.
