This is both fascinating and heartbreaking. I like all the emotions, and the intellectual side to it. It leaves the reader with something to think about.

You know what I think you did a fine job of the whole Logan/Max/Alec/Rachel twist... painful and valid as well. It was superb.

I should tell that it isn't easy to read M/A stories, but I read it because you are the author and I like your stories so much.

Aside the already angst of Logan's death, the wandering angst planing around your story is so intense that I almost reached the end with relief (usually I don't like to see the word 'end' at the bottom of your stories...)

I have to say that it's very good, though. Broken world, broken people, broken DNA, broken life. Maybe a future can exist in these conditions. Maybe a broken love, or most possible a broken attempt to be comforted.

A story which make me ponder, when I finally won my battle against tears...

Very sad, but hell, I love it. Love the picture of Alec you draw and how he's changed over the years. Love that Alec and Logan became friends in the end, and IMO M/A could really work under those circumstances. I've read and reviewed some M/A stories but it has never been this easy before :P. Though - I naturally still hope you're going to write M/L again. ;)

Favorite part:

-...She left him in charge whether she realized it or not. She left Alec with an army of transgenics for two years and everyone’s still more or less intact (he isn’t and she isn’t, but he won’t admit that to anyone but himself.) Nothing blew up, nothing exploded and it’s not her city anymore.

It’s his.

He’s not sure if he can ever forgive her for that ...

So very sad ! And yes, even though I don’t want Logan to die, in this constellation and if it’s written as well as this I can see and accept M/A, even hope for them that it works out after all.

Oh Max and Alec...so broken, but my favourite ship. Well written.

So I'm mostly a ML fan but... this was beautiful and I think there's usually nothing wrong with MA (other then a personal pref thing, which is kind of different ;P), especially not like this - it was angsty and tragic and very nicely written. You don't turn Logan into a demon, or "coincidentally" forget Rachel, thank god :)

I do have a small question though, that doesn't really matter but I was just sort of wondering. You say that Logan dies because of accidental contact between him and Max... but then Max isn't there while he's dying?

Anyway, great story :) Like I said before, it's absolutely beautiful

I thought this was really wonderful. Though I tend to prefer a little angst, to too much fluff myself. I think Max and Alec, really all the transgenics, have pretty much always been somewhat broken considering their trauma. Very interesting take, thanks for sharing it!

Beautifully written story, and a facinating look at their dynamic. That was exactly how I imagine Alec evolving and maturing over time and with responsibility. I really liked it.

Kidding! Totally kidding. P This is great! Even though I'm one of the people who thinks Alec and Max works, I also recognize a really great fic when I see one. It's very sad and touching, and makes me wonder if they won't work because she's Max and he's Alec, or if it's because they're transgenics and love and relationships are just something they really aren't capable of doing (but that could just be my MA love talkin' again). I was actually a little infuriated with Max that she hasn't learned not to stop running away from things. Jeez, talk about making the same mistake twice... or thirty.
