Why do we keep abusing Daniel? I mean, besides the fact that he has a sexy pout, and that him crying or in pain makes us want to hug him and never let go. Although, that's more of a universal thing, the hugging part.

Daniel is starting to feel a bit emotionally naked now which puts him at his most vulnerable. It will be most interesting to see where you go with this and what Sam's next reactions will be towards him. She needs to be very careful and yet tender at the same time. Listening is an art form. From experience its a difficult position for Daniel to be in with his own emotions overlapping with the boy's position and whether his response to the boy was right or wrong. Is this self doubt I see on the horizon? Once again you've managed to capture just the right amount of angst and emotion without taking it over the top. Such a sensitive area. Well done!

I think this is an interesting and well written story. But I also feel like I am missing some bit of inforamtion. What brought all this up now after years of supression? Was it Herbertus confiding in him? Based on what I know about abuse survivors usually some event triggers memories or sometimes they start to come back when the person is finally in an emotionally safe environment. I could see you going either way with this story. I would like to see you continue this a bit to see how Daniel deals with this (to whatever degree he does). It might also be interesting to have a bit from Sam's POV, especially if, who how much she chooses to tell.

You've picked a sensitive topic for a story line and you've written it really well. I agree you have to be careful about where you go with this but it could turn into a powerful story with some educational moments if done properly. I'd like to see you take this further if your game! Well done!

Overall, an interesting and powerful story. The twist of putting Daniel in a situation where he has to deal with another's pain is a strong point. You kept the POV well, and the angst is obvious and telling. If you add to the story, you should be careful not to go over board on this point. Edging toward sap with such a dark topic is problematic (you didn't do that here).
