I love the way you handle the characters Chase and House. There's always kind of distance and tension in their dialouges. But on the other hand during the whole story so much commoness and sypathy. I hope you are going back on writing these kind of stories this year. This would be awesome!

This was so good! In-character and deep.

The ending was just so... perfect. It really illustrated the point of the fic well.

A very nice, emotionally restrained piece. I like the way that you're keeping both House and Chase understated; for me, that packs more of a dramatic punch than over-the-top emo. This passage was particularly nice:

"God..." Chase looked equal parts amused and frustrated. "You don't know me at all, House. I'm not like you. I'm not going to wallow in my misery. I'm tired and I hurt and I just want to go home and go to sleep. I'm not going to get drunk and moon over all the things I should have done that would mean Kayla would still be alive. She's dead, my dad's dead, it's over and done with. There's going back.

Tiny bit of typo crit: You should put a "no" before going back.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this fic; there's not near enough Chase fic on this site for me. :P

"House knew that Chase was broken in ways that an x-ray would never reveal."

"Get up, blondie or I'll knock you out and drag you there caveman style."

Like these quotes and the final line about it not sucking as much next year.

I was expecting just emotional trauma, but the physical stuff was an added bonus! I only read House stories written by you now because all the other stuff is so sappy. Great story and I hope you decide to continue writing in this fandom.
