I am blown away...I mean just blown away. I had been looking for stories after reading up on Jane Austin, finishing her books, as well as watching the movie Becoming Jane. I have found such trifling stories that have impressed me less and less. This story...is a miracle. What emotion! What drama! I am amazed. There was hardly any scene with Jane and Tom together yet the love is felt in every word. This was so intensly beautiful I had the great inclination to weep at the end of it. I am so impressed. Thank you so much for writing this. You are so talented, but what I am most taken back with is your own understanding of human nature and emotion, much as Jane Austin had. This story is now a favorite. I look to your profile for more stories by your hand. Once again thank you so much for creating and sharing such a beautiful story.

Ah, a great ending, my dear! You write so beautifully. It is always sad to see stories come to an end... But what choice do we have? I loved it! :)

‘Does it matter?!’ Mary felt her heart burning. ‘It matters for the whole world!’

The sentiments echoed by all Austen fans worldwide. Tee hee

You have it that Tom was born on January 8, 1796. I find that highly unlikely, lol. Wonderful chapter. We get to see more of Tom's wife, and see that she wants to understand her husband rather than just blame him for something he truly cannot help. Elwen.

Really enjoyed chapter three, and the story as a whole -- you've done a really good job of fleshing out Mary Paul and making her seem real, as opposed to just "Tom's wife." I can feel what she must be feeling, but also know what Tom must feel too -- all that hurt and loss welling up to the surface. Can't wait to read more and more! :)

I saw the movie and did enjoy your fanfic, and I can tell also that you've done some research into the matter...however, taking the basic things I know about Jane Austen, the time line of your story makes no sense whatsoever.

Jane wrote First Impressions when she was about 21.
It was later published as Pride and Prejudice in 1811.

If Thomas Lefroy was really born in 1815, he was considerably younger than her, a good twenty years or more. That would have made any romance between them somewhat...odd.

Also, the business of the memoir...by the 1860's, Jane Austen was already long dead. I know that a memoir could be written at any time, really...but it just seems odd.

you've captured the spirit of what I imagined ties were like in Austen's era so beautifully, I can't wait to read more in this story.

I love your story here. I have recently seen the movie and have fallen in love with it. Would you be so kind as to send me the link for the web page you were describing earlier? Thank you. Elwen.
