I love explanations of this "issue". I scanned through this one quickly a while back, but have now actually read it. My two fav parts are: When Della says "No wonder she hates me." That puts such a different twist on things, showing Laura as the one on the defensive very nicely. The second is the little tidbit you slipped in at the end when Perry recounts to Della what she is to him...the love of my life, my friend, my wife...my world. Very subtle. It does bring to mind the question why they have separate rooms, but I don't care. The "Laura issue" is just an itch that must be scratched sometimes.
