I'm surprised Sirius didn't just walk out the front door in broad daylight; I hardly think they'd have stopped him! Your story made me think that the Sorting Hat actually does a better job than . . . well, whoever decides who gets which parents.

Sirius's welcome into the Potter family has always been my favourite side story. They really were the best of friends.
