And at the same time, it was very sad reading this, I wasn't really surprised by some of those summaries...>.>; I think that means I've searched this site WAY too much. Anyway, you did an excellent job on this, you really did. Everything from the names of the "fanfics", to the author names, to the bad spelling and lack of grammar skills, to the fact that (although it is somewhat sad to admit) 99.9% of M rated stories are the ones that are pure crap. Everything in this story was just SO TRUE, and I could easily see any one of these on this site (or any HP/fanfiction site).

Very interesting view of fanfiction but I would like to point out that not everyone spells like this "OMG liek, i cant blive taht i rote tis! its te grates ting eva!" If I ever wrote like that for more than the purposes of example or humour I believe I would have to shoot myself.

First let me say I am still laughing my head off. I don't dare ask if any of the plot summaries were stolen from Deletrius or similar spiteful sites that mock the immaturity of the immature. I think your story is a much more tasteful way to expose what is bad about bad literature and what keeps a fanfiction true to the spirit of the real Harry Potter.

I think you are right about Penelope Clearwater being a Muggle-born. At first I thought it odd in DH when Hermione borrowed her name, but later someone pointed out that Penelope's name wouldn't have been on the Snatchers' list because they were only tracking school-aged children at that point. Hermione was trying to buy time by impersonating someone whose name they wouldn't know and who would be difficult to track (few magical connections). It backfired, but it wasn't a bad snap-decision, and it doesn't seem to have endangered the real Penelope. I do wonder what happened to Penelope. JKR clearly had planned a back-story for this character that she never ended up telling us. I suspect that either (1) Penelope died in the war, or (2) it became prudent to change her name and "Audrey Weasley" IS Penelope.

As for Orla Quirke, my private theory is that she married Michael Corner, but I'm afraid I have no justification whatever for that little theory. Did you pick that she's an Irishwoman?

An absolutely hilarious little piece. Indeed, Muggle Studies must be a pretty weird subject. Very important you stress that all the titles and authors are "fictional" - they often sound EXTREMELY real!

OMG - I think you've captured about half of what's out there.

A bit of a departure from your normal style (?) but I loved it - I laughed all the way through it. Some of those summaries were so spot on, although there's probably a few more genres left that you could still do.
