Ah, the truck...I remember my time with Optimus so well. It started when I gave Peter Cullen one of my fanfics as a gift--how grateful his eyes were when he drew me around the table, enveloped me in a strong hug and kissed my cheek. I saw the truck not long after that. I did my fangirl groping of course, but then I just put my hands on the side of the hood and let my cheek rest there until it was cool and the metal got warm. I wanted to have that moment Mikaela had in A Dance to Remember. I wanted to imagine what being cheek to cheek with him would be like. The chrome felt more like porcelain than metal...I remember mumbling to the truck, "I'll keep writing as long as you inspire me." I kissed him a few times, but only the one on the exhaust pipe by the driver's side door got caught on camera. But to hold Peter Cullen's hands and have him kiss me, and then offer that same love BACK to the character he gave life to still chokes me up when I think about it. I hope Botcon comes to Pasadena again, because I'll be there, probably wondering if Mr. Cullen and the truck both remember me...

This really is sweet. Absolutely adorable.

And I can completely understand the Autobots authorizing a movie about themselves-- it's the perfect coverup. Anyone who pieces the truth together and declares their existence is immediately considered a psychotic fanboy/girl who fails to distinguish between reality and fiction.

Or at least, that's how I picture it.

XD And I came back from BotCon. Being in the same room - heck, presence - as the vehicles used is quite humbling. Not real they may be, but they're a part of childhood, even if I'm an adult now. :D

This was a wonderful peice that I stumbled across. I enjoyed it a lot. I really don't remember any of the series but I remeber Peter Cullen doing Optimus's voice for Toonami and remember how inspired I felt. I can understand how people would want to thank the characters that had an influence on their life. Through... it would be cool if Optimus really had been there. Thanks for the wonderful read.

Yes, that's the word I'm looking for.
I am touched.
And practically in tears for a reason I cannot identify.
So many things in my life have up gone, places to go, people to see, and new things to learn elsewhere, leaving me to trail along in the wake of the others, doing what I can to try and catch up.
And realizing that I don't want to catch up with them.
I want to stay here, in this quiet place of familiarity and warmth that feels more like home than any house I have ever come to reside in.
All my imaginings and obsessions come together within the confines of my mind, comforting me in my times of darkness.
And I would be one of those girls ghosting fingers along his chrome, checking his engine, and sitting on his step to simply feel that presence against me.
Though I just recently came into the fandom, just in the last few years actually, I feel as if I have known him all my days, the quiet protector as loving and kind as my own father when the man was not there to comfort me.
Optimus Prime.
Sometimes, I have to wonder if it was the yearning of so many youths in need of a person to look up to that brought around his existence, for he has come to represent so much more to us than merely a leader in battle.
He is the guardian of all that is innocent and in need.
The one we can turn to in our darkest hour, though some may think him only a figment of our imaginations.
That calming presence that keeps us warm in the darkness of the night.
