Raberba girl 8/12/02 . chapter 1Very, very good writing. |
Mako-clb 1/18/02 . chapter 1This is a bit sad, but it gets points for taking a unique perspective on Melfina. |
AAmishi 11/9/01 . chapter 1 Well... Well... Well, it was well written, thoughtful. Umm, I liked most of it, about the first 3rd of it.
I am a firm believer in the old Beatles song, "All You Need Is Love". I believe that love can concur all.
And if two people love each other, and I mean truly love each other, they will instinctively do those things that
are necessary to make the other person happy, even if it means making serious changes in their own personality,
without the other person requesting those changes. You do it out of love, your partners happiness becomes the most
important thing in the world to you. Did Gene and Melfina share that type of love at the end of Outlaw Star?
I don't know. The romantic in me likes to believe they did. I could see how some (maybe most) could see otherwise.
I'm going to have to find some Gene/Melfina love story to read now in order to get this painfully sad
story out of my mind. I just can't handle it. _ |
Braz Oceantear 8/28/01 . chapter 1I love it! It's so true! One of the best Melfina fics I've ever read! |
SSJBardock 8/26/01 . chapter 1Great story. I truly enjoyed reading this. It's nice to see a fic that doesn't have that 'happily ever after' theme to it. Good reading. |
Skyrocket 8/26/01 . chapter 1I gotta say, this is interesting. After what happened at the Leyline just how different would Melfina be? This isn't the slant I would take on this sort of story, but it is a good story. Nice job. |
Rowan Seven 8/24/01 . chapter 1 Wow. This is the best Melfina introspection piece that I've read. Her thoughts and reflections on her life before and after the ley-line were wonderfully written and detailed, as was her decision at the end. Despite the fact that practically the entire story was leading up to it, it still took me by surprise. Still, this is the most convincing reason for a Gene/Melfina fall-out that I've come across. It was sad, believable, and very true to real life. Ah well, maybe now Harry will get a chance. *g* Thank you very much for writing and posting this fanfiction on the internet. Reading it was a delight. |
DB Sommer 8/24/01 . chapter 1Ordinarily, I don't like commenting in my own review section, but there probably is something I need to make clear before I get wrongly pegged. I do not see this as the 'only' outcome at the end of OS. On the contrary, I fully believe it will probably be a 'happily ever after' thing with Mel and Gene, which I approve of. However, I thought this take on events could be interesting as an alternate look at things. Just wanted to clear that up. BTW: Pokemon Fan, Harry is the one that she mentions as helping to form her and calls him 'insane'. Not sure where you got the idea it was Fred. |
Miranda 8/24/01 . chapter 1 Can we say 'stupid'? |
Elizabeth M. Potter 8/23/01 . chapter 1I like it alot! Please right more Outlaw Star Fics! |
Zagadka 8/23/01 . chapter 1 damn that is the best fanfic I've read so far |
Rachel Wes 8/23/01 . chapter 1Great story! I was drawn in from the first. Very introspective and very possible with the future storyline. In my mind, I always thought Mel and Gene would be together forever, but the storyline just wouldn't be the same if Gene "settled down." Keep it up and write more! |
Perentie Fan 8/23/01 . chapter 1Although I did find the story depressing as I see Gene and Melphina being meant to stay together, I can't ignore that you are a very good writer and aside from some mispellings you conveyed the emotions and information perfectly. Although I don't know if I would call Fred "insane" and am surprised that you made no mention of Harry Mcdougal in the story as he, for all his evil, obsession and insanity, played a large role in Melphina's development too.
As for the likelihood of Gene and Melphina's relationship lasting I can see how many think it wouldn't as they are indeed very different but I see their personalities helping each other more then destroying their relationship. Gene benifits from Melphina's more controlled attitude toward things and Melphina benefits from Gene's more care free attitude. I personally think that after the deph of love and commitment Gene displayed toward Melphina in the leyline that he would likely put a stop or limit to a lot of his less desirable activities, especially when it came to other women. Also I don't think Melphina would mind not settling down. I doubt that she could have children anyway and with Jim they don't need to, just one happy family travelling the universe with their bounty hunter friend, alien catgirl and smart aleck computer :) |
