| Botticelli50 2007-09-13 ch 1,  | abuseOh heaven! - Jools and Oliver followed by Jools & Harry, all wrapped up in exquisitely witty and intelligent dialogue that captures the essence of each character. I particularly loved the small details: Oliver's rancid breath and greed as opposed to Jools's calm finiky demeanour at the lunch table and Harry seen through Jool's eyes at their meeting - all impulisve emotions and short temper combined with a shrewd insight into Jool's dealings with his department. Jools feels far more empathy with Harry than Oliver but he has no intention of helping him in his battles with Mace and dispassionately acknowledge's Harry's Achille's heel is his impulsiveness and his regard for his officers. Harry may be the hero of our affections but Jools is perhaps the better suited to Security Service intrigue. A wonderful complex character who highlighted Harry's strengths and weaknesses and whom you have perfectly captured and developed in the three installments. I would love to read your slant on 5.5 maybe with Jools lurking in the background but hopefully with less buggery & S&M involved - at least as far as our hero & heroine are concerned!! |
