Heh. I also see Tobias as an interesting character to add to the Harry Potter mix. Given he's an alcoholic, you could turn him any way you wanted in the approx. 2 decades since we heard anything about him. Yes, he could be dead but he could have run off or been run off. V. would likely forgive Snape if his father wasn't easily located because Snape'd made him sign over his assets and driven him away, say the next break after his fun experience with the Shrieking Shack...

Just to argue with another reviewer (I know, totally pointless) a suicidal Snape would be almost exactly how he behaved at the end of DH - scared, determined on his course, and completely uncaring for his survival. Whether he had the emotional strength to actually aim it at his tormentors is another thing altogether. In canon he was hardly ever direct and let off steam at safe targets. (Not nice, disturbing for those of us who find Snape fascinating.)

If you ever do the full-length Trelawney fic I will put it in my C2 sight unseen. You nearly killed me with only 2 scenes. (For the serious bits, there's pages to be written on interpreting Harry's prophecy and why something as messed up as that thing cannot possibly be interpreted only one way.)
