yay for Caleb! I love that you took such a different spin on him - and poor puppy! (Bobby's puppy, that is, I would have DIED seeing that happen to my dog and you inspired me to pull her onto my lap and give her a HUGE cuddle! Good thing she's only little :) )

Glad that stupid Black Dog got what it deserved, though I think I would've liked to see John grab Bobby's gun too and empty THAT into it's head as well! Horrible, evil, rotten, stinking creature that it is! Should've been left off the ark :)

I have to say, I love how Jim told Sam that Dean was gone, and Sam's reaction like I said was just heartbreaking, but he never really let go of hope did he? When Jim told him he was coming home, and Sammy went into full mother hen mode, cooking up a storm to make sure that Dean had everything he wanted and like to eat well I just thought that was really cute and totally something he would've done. Getting Dean home would've put the poor kid into over drive.

My favourite part is actually Caleb, though. He's an oddly damaged character, he's tough and does what he has to do to get the job done, but Dean managed to melt his heart a little which was just great. Friends seem to be important to him but he can't keep a friend for long because his methods keep getting him into trouble... and yet the way he was welcomed by John and Jim - and eventually even Bobby forgave him I guess - was just great! it really left Caleb feeling... well, uncomfortable, but I could see there would be quite a change coming for him too. I think he's seen a side of people - of hunters especially - that he hadn't seen for a long time and that he wouldn't have expected to see.

Okay, I've rambled on more than enough ;) I'm gonna go 'hunt' through the rest of your stuff and find more things to read!

btw, the scene with the candle was so cute. The candle had to be perfect and had to be lit with the strongest flame, I can totally get that :) poor Sammy :(

tee hee! I love how Caleb kept calling Dean "it"! lol So many different versions of Caleb, and this one is definitely unique, I love it!

he blew up part of the roadhouse? Yeah, Ellen would be p*d!

*gasp* OMG! You're just breaking my heart! I had so much more to say, but that ending just tore me apart! Poor lil Sammy! I wanted to cry when he said 'Can I go with him?' How hard that must have been for Jim to hear from someone so young! So determined to be with his brother... :(

Some good things - or interesting things... first, for the first time EVER I have wanted to punch Bobby right in the nose! lol But then I realised that he was trying to snap John out of his self pity and get him in hunting mode and I felt much better... though the comment about Mary's death proving that Winchester's could die easy still nearly sealed his fate and I'm certain that if John hadn't decked him I would have found a way to crawl into my computer screen and do it myself! lol VERY well written!

And I have something in common with Sammy! I'm a section eater too! (That's what we call it when you eat all the food in it's portions, not mixing it up) I thought that was so cool, I was grinning! hehehe

Silly John letting a 13 year old separate from him on a hunt for a black dog. If somethings happened to Dean - and it better not have! - I think John's going to be very broken and most definitely blame himself :(

Hey, loved this. Liked the interplay between all the hunters and Pastor Jim. Thought your John was excellent. Coulf feel his concern oozing from the page but you didn't take him into Un-Winchester gushing. Loved Bobby - God he's such a great guy and I think he is Dean's guardian angel.
Thought you nailed Teenage Dean really well and loved the exchanges at the end with Sammy over the lasagne!

Great chapter!! Counldn't tell from the ending if you are done with this fic or not. Ether way, you should definetly write more stories from this AU.

Really good job. You did a very good job of staying true to the characters. Good job describing everything. I could easily visualize the story, as I read it. I enjoyed the young brotherly banter.

Just finished reading your story and wanted to say thanks for sharing it with us.
I really do like your stories, except when you write a death fiction, as you know, I can't read those.
The first chapter was full of so many heart wrenching moments. John as he tried to explain to Sam how he 'lost' Dean and later as Jim talked to Sam about heaven.
Yet have to love Sam's faith that Dean wouldn't leave him, because we know Dean is not the one that always leaves (he'll get out of the deal this season).
Love Bobby and the way you wrote him.
I'm glad that Caleb found Dean. He did a great job of taking care of Dean. I could see Dean giving a false name - he wouldn't want to endanger Sam. Kinda read fast through the Roadhouse part - Ellen is kinda OK, but Jo no - sorry if you like them.
Poor Caleb, he sure did get on the wrong side of Bobby by accidently killing his dog.
Loved the reunion between John and Dean. I liked that John invited Caleb to come visit at Jim's.
Had to smile as Sammy was helping to fix food for Dean. So even at age thirteen, Dean loved to eat.
Wonderful ending as 'all the family' gathered for dinner and to celebrate Dean's safe return.
