Wow!

There are so many wonderful facets of this story that you've captured beautifully.

First, Steerpike's love of storytelling, and how his friend looks on him almost as a god. You've written a very powerful relationship between the two, as I read this story I felt that they were neither lovers, nor friends, but something which went beyond simple human terms to describe.

There's also elements of grief and tragedy scattered throughout, which make the tale very bitter sweet.

As always your descriptions and use of language was breathtaking, I only wish I could write half as well as you.

This is a very rich, captivating and poignant tale.
