Wow, this was one of the best written stories I have ever read on here.
One bit of criticizm, it is a little long winded and the dialog between characters needs to be broken out of the paragraphs.
Othere than that wow, excelent writing.

Interesting. I'm not a fan of Asuka, and tbh, I don't think a "Asuka dies early in the show" fic has been done yet. Props on picking it up :-).

I like your writing style. It's quite dry and formal, which in this situation makes it rather appropriate. I will see how (and if) it changes in lighter or more intimate moments, as one of the problems I have had in the past is that of being too technical during times wherein it would ruin the mood.

Good job thus far. I shall keep reading :-)

For some reason or another, reading this fanfic tickled my funny bone. Perhaps its your style of humor when explaining things in the fanfic.

Interesting view on the take of Asuka's importance to the plot line. However I have to disagree slightly with your view. As it is if Asuka hadn't been around then shinji's plunge into the depths of dispair would have been almost non existant. Asuka plays a major role in the line of bringing Shinji to a lower level then he is at the start of the series or even the first few episodes after that. While I may seem to be focusing on her bad points I would like to point out that she is also a major intrest on Shinji's part for someone he cares for. I believe that he tried to connect to Asuka because he thought that because of their similar family situations that they would get along. It can also be noted that without Asuka there is a chance that Rei might have never questioned her life. While this is pure speculation I think it should be taken into concideration. As for the actual writing now. I really like it. The monologus feel of it is different, in a good way, to many other stories. I look forward to how this will turn out and how the loss of Asuka will effect the character interactions. If your thinking I'm one of those people who think Asuka is simply misunderstood then you're dead wrong. As it is I think she got what she deserved when she lost the ability to pilot. Well here's to hoping you update soon. May the blessings of Rei Ayanami be upon you.

First and foremost, I must say I agree with Eric Blair in his assertion that Asuka is in fact important to the story, and not just marginally or as cannon fodder.
However, I must commend you on your audacity in killing off Asuka outright, especially as this story is a R/S ship in which she would most likely be relegated to a minimally important role, something I am not partial to in the least.
The writing style is ludicrously excellent as well, and overall this prologue is brilliant work.

Not so much; you can actually remove all of the character and rethink the whole scenario, however by removing Asuka in an attempt to explain why Shinji would "fall" for Rei is trying to simplify a character that is the mirror of Shinji in more ways than possible; I can understand you dong it for the story, but do not try to explain this logic under the assumption that any character can be replaced except for Shinji Gendo and Rei; vis a vis, you can exchange Fuyutsuki for Keel, Ritsuko for Naoko, make Hikari take the place of Maya and Kaji be the one in charge of operations instead of Misato; the result would be something that would only be regarded as Eva simply because of th character's names, but story wise you had chipped away the complexity of the plot and characters.

If you remember correctly, the whole point of 3I was initiated when Asuka lost the battle against the MP evas' Rei died, and Rei returned, but Shinji never lost control of anything and thus never initiated 3I the final reason for Asuka to be there is to be able to measure Shinji's persona, be the embodiment of his lust/love (whereas Misato and Rei will be the embodiment of his maternal/family love) as well as being the one Shinji is in love with (at least anime wise) make him be in such a state of mental breakdown after watching her "die" that he will initiate 3I.

TO negate this is to want simply a yes man/women to applaud your sotry, this si simply a review on the premise since the premise is IMO lacking due to the explanation given; if you want to re imagine the Ev universe without Asuka you are free to do so,just don't insult a reader/fan's intelligence by saying what you think about a character to be the ultimate truth.
Respond or flame, I really could care less, I had approached you previously in the past on PM to inform you of issues that were disappointing to me as a reader, this is the same issue taken to a different level. I know this could mean nothing and you could careless, and it is not in my interest to be a flamer, so I will remove you form my alerts; as you said "Although I don't expect to change that, I just wanted to explain my reasons for writing this. In any case, as long as the non-Asuka people don't absolutely despise it and I can continue to find inspiration, I hope to take this through the entire series."
I am an Asuka people, but I like to read different pairings and authors, unfortunately, I have lost any interest in your stories.

Well I have to say that this is certainly an original idea. In Gendo's scenario, Asuka is a minor character, but story wise, she does influence all of the other characters. Still, I look forward to your next chapter.

Okay, first off, could you confirm what angel this is starting around; I'm guessing its around the 7th, but it would be useful to know. Otherwise, I've got to agree with the former reviewer that its unlikely that religion would have died, but thats just my opinion. I've also got to debate with you that Asuka is a minor character plot-wise. She may have little impact on Gendo's scenario or directly defeat of the angels, but she does end up drastically changing how Shinji's interactions. Between affecting his actions while piloting to severing his social interactions, she determines how Shinji's character develops, and in essence affects the 3I in both versions. That said, I really can't claim to be an Asuka fan, and so far, I think you've got a good start.
