This is beautifully written. I do love to see sense details and hard research meet over mythology; but that's a rare cocktail, and not many people have the patience to put it together properly. I think you've managed it wonderfully here.

And the really gorgeous, dark undertones seal the story off in just the right way. Perfectly suited to Kali of terrible countenance.

A wonderful, compellingly truthful take on a character that few have deigned to notice. I adore minor characters; the lack of information about them gives writers pretty much free reign.
This, though...I think this is Sumbhajee's real story. I seriously can't imagine another one any more.

Wow. Not only a deep development of a minor character, but a whole culture and mythology, as well. Poetic. Great choice of scenes for exposition. What a rich little story!

Excellent. I particularly like how you not only factored in Sumbhajee's voice, but also Calypso's crabs (I assume), and Kali.
