| Megsy42 2008-05-10 ch 1, | abuseThat was really good, but bittersweet after reading DH. I love how George takes control and comforts his brother, as I can imagine it normally being the other way around. Really nice oneshot. |
| RogueAndPeasantSlave 2008-05-07 ch 1, | abuseWaugh! Definitely resonant after having read DH. I love that you used the image of Mr. Diggory as kind of the catalyst for Fred's little freakout. I feel like that's exactly how Mr. Weasley would react, anyway. Nice job! |
| FinnFiona 2008-05-06 ch 1, | abuseOh, you did a lovely job with the twins! It's terribly bittersweet of course, but a good missing moment... I really like the insertion of Ron here as well (of course)--but everyone seems very in character, and just so... *close*. I love the closeness of the Weasleys, and of the twins... very nice! |
| MirrorCat21 2008-04-30 ch 1, | abuseThat...was just a really interesting little oneshot. Seriously, as depressing as it is, it's just...so them. Trying to protect the family, while cracking jokes. But the seriousness fit as well. I don't know, it was just perfect. |
| JJ Rust 2008-03-08 ch 1, | abusePretty good. It was nice to see George taking control in this one. And I like the ending. You can't have a totally serious ending to a story where the Weasley twins are involved. |
| Dumbledore-The-Phoenix 2008-02-21 ch 1, | abuseOkay. So it's 1:55 a.m. I am suffering from the lingering effects of a sixteen-ounce bottle of Mountain Dew that I had at around 8:30. Normally, your fanfiction is guaranteed to reduce me to tears, and thus I am tired. Apparently the Mountain Dew has rendered me stoic. My expression has remained exactly the same for what feels like hours. And my right hand is cold. I thought I had read this one already, but I hadn't. I'm glad Fred had the presence of mind to threaten Ron with spider-mates, too. :-) I kind of smiled then. I dunno what's going on. I should sleep, but I'm supposed to think of a project topic. *sigh* |
| MatoakaWilde 2008-02-02 ch 1, | abusei liked how you made George the one who notice's Cedric is dead first, it seemed really in character. I always saw George the more sensitive of the two. I also liked the pact they made at the end. George would probably be the more optimistic of the two. |
| Cuban Sombrero Gal 2008-02-01 ch 1, | abuseFirstly - some sort of line or something between the note and fic would be wonderful, because suddenly the fic started and I got rather disoriented. That's just a presentation issue and has nothing to do with the fic though. Other than that, it's a very realistic portrayal of grief, incredibly well done. I love the little touches like Fred and George having to both start and finish sentences., Lovely little look at family ties too; it's extremely poignant and has just enough angst to work without being over the top. Well done. :) Cuba |
| mackgirl 2008-02-01 ch 1, | abuseOh, this was so... greatly done. I like this a lot, great job. |
| WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot 2008-01-31 ch 1, | abuseOoh! I love WeasleyTwin/Ron goodness. This was a great one-shot, and I kept getting choked up thinking about DH and some of the really great post-DH stories I've read. I love that it was Fred who needed consoling and George was the pillar of strength. What's more...Ron was the first to notice something was wrong. I liked the roles all three of your Weasleys played here. Good job! |
| Cassandra's Cross 2008-01-31 ch 1, | abuseThe Invincible Weasleys indeed. This is very, very sad in retrospect, but very Fred & George in real time. The threat to put spiders in Ron's bedroom was a clever touch. Nicely done! |
| KaryInTheSky 2008-01-29 ch 1, | abuseThat was sweet in a way and extremely sad in another... I loved it! I love the details you throw in the story. Ron and Hermione’s personalities are very clear and well portrayed. “Did you see Mr. Diggory?” “…and make sure that that is never – is never – Dad. Ok?” Those lines gave me chills. I love how they care so much about their family. I really liked this, it fits perfectly as a Weasley missing moment, great work! |
| Sera dy Relandrant 2008-01-29 ch 1, | abuseVery awesome! |
| Lexie-H 2008-01-28 ch 1, | abuseBelieve it or not... I don't set out to write angst. I think, in some ways, to dwell on that sort of motivation isn't something I like to do. But... I've faced mortality a little in the past few years, and I guess it's left an impact. The Memory Keepers was written (full of grief) for my friend, so you know... Actually I much prefer writing humour! Anyway, on to your gorgeous little oneshot. Brilliant idea, telling this well known tragedy from a different POV. That you chose the twins is an interesting foreshadow to DH, and some of your lines are simply haunting, especially: "“It won’t ever be any of us, ok?” he said firmly. Fred stared at him. “You can’t know that,” he said softly, his voice wavering." Wow. The emotion you pack into those few words - that sense of urgency - is very powerful indeed. I don't often get choked up about stories, but that did it. Your characterisation of the twins was brilliant, too. I love that George is the assured one and Fred, the wary. It works well with the canon, and adds a wonderful depth to both of their characters. I don't know if you're familiar with it, but I run a community and forum called the Reviews Lounge, where we try to get deserving stories some more attention. I'm definitely adding this to our C2 archive =) Brilliant Lexie |
| ReviewsGalore 2008-01-05 ch 1, | abuseStory: 8.5/10. I like the story idea and this is a good look at the twins, though I think the ending might have needed something. Characters: 8.25/10. Fred and George seem pretty in character, though I'm not sure of how protective they seem in this. Creativity: 8/10. There is so much Fred and George reflecting on death lately, but this is a fairly fresh way of approaching it. Writing: 8.25/10. Well written, in general, though I think you could use a little more description, especially for a fic of this type. Believability: 9/10. I can definitely believe that Fred and George would have these feelings. I can see a scene like this actually happening, though I think you could have a little more background. Overall: 8.5/10. Fairly nice Fred and George fic, though I think it could be deeper. |
