Very nice work so far; Your writing is fluid and to-the point and I'm impressed at how you seem to merge the old-school and new-school without it turning, well, ridiculous. Castle is kept nicely in-character, he's not quite Ennis' zombie-like atrocity, but he's got enough edge to not be a soft tragic hero.

In particular, the small excerpts from his war-journal fascinate me; the fact that they deal not only his missions and strategy, but also his thoughts and observations, makes him much more human. More of those, please.

I'm not thrilled that jigsaw is in the story, but at least you've managed to turn him from an idiotic whiny goon to someone who might actually pose a challenge to Castle. He's grown some brains and some guts apparently, so if you keep him that way, and avoid the classical Marvel 'For some reason Frank didn't finish Jigsaw so now he will be back to haunt Frank whenever comic-writers get too lazy to think up their own villains'-maneuver and it should all be good. The Spaniard seems cool, though, and I'm looking forward to seeing where you're going with him, even if he turns out just to be cannon-fodder.
