remake 10/31/09 . chapter 4Thank you so much for updating this story.
I hope you already have the next chapter ready to go. |
Uberscribbler 10/31/09 . chapter 4Trust this author to make what should be a horribly convoluted and chaotic situation...actually seem simple.
The Vessel has been returned to the fleet. Naturally the first reaction everyone besides Kara has is to club him senseless. And talk of chucking him out an airlock? Again, no surprises there.
Two unexpected complications are Athena (which is a nice switch from her reaction to the returned Starbuck in the series, which was to airlock her immediately) and Baltar (again we're switching from what we saw, where he's declaring miracles early on). I'm sure Kara will appreciate the help from the former, and likely see whatever plans she's working on derailed by the well-intentioned efforts of the latter. Or I could be completely off base about what's coming; as I've consistently said, the only thing one can expect from this author is the unexpected.
The changes to Lee's character are nothing short of profound, yet logical given the context. Yet they also don't detract from the character's essentials in any way; at least, they don't appear to. Its early days yet, so Lee could become the BSG version of Zaphod Beeblebrox in the next chapter. No doubt the author will surprise us on this score in coming chapters.
*This* chapter was, unquestionably, worth the wait. I hope and pray we'll see it continued soon! |
viper67 10/30/09 . chapter 4I like your version better than the canon. AND I think it makes much more sense too - but that shouldn't take much (lol).
Anyway, congratulations. I really enjoyed this. Please don't take so long to update! |
VegittoGR 10/29/09 . chapter 4you should update more often, this story is really interesting ;) |
anon 5/22/09 . chapter 3 this is a great story and i think you should update as soon as you can |
Aliennut 5/11/09 . chapter 3I really hope that you update this soon. Fantastic! |
Sarah LoTuS 5/10/09 . chapter 3A really interesting reversal of canon! I look forward to seeing where you take this from here. How will Bill react to Lee's return? Will he still put him in the brig or is blood thicker than water? |
remake 5/9/09 . chapter 3LOVE THE FIC. UPDATE SOON. |
 sezq 5/8/09 . chapter 3wow! |
gatelover 5/8/09 . chapter 3WOW! What a chapter. I love that Kara finally shed the Starbuck bravado and is finding out who Kara is. I loved her conversations with Adama though I feel Kara is more subdued then normal. I love that you reversed the course of the show, now Lee is coming back from the dead.
It says "end", please tell me that's for the chapter and not the story. The story would seem incomplete if you left off here, please continue. Great work. |
 sydcasy 5/6/09 . chapter 3Interesting! Can't wait for more. |
Rageful Jewel 5/5/09 . chapter 3Lords, I hope I won't have to wait too long for the next chapter to come out in order to know what happens next. Also, I love the references to the finale and Caprica. It makes the story feel a bit more canon than it otherwise would have been. (Yes I am well aware that this is an AU, but I like AU that parallel canon than completely run away from it, and to me this story appears to be a parallel, which I think is great.) Now I will patiently wait for the next chapter to become available.
PS: Sorry for the short review, but your story has for the most part left me tongue-tied, that's how good it was. |
Uberscribbler 5/5/09 . chapter 3Not quite what I was expecting for part 3. It certainly had its high points throughout, and offers some real gems to the larger backstory of the colonies and their mythology. The part about Pythia was interesting, although I'm not sure how it relates to present events.
The two confrontations seemed a bit breezy, as if Kara knew in advance how she would/should react. She was also a tad on the controlled side, not communicating much passion in her exchanges with Adama. It was appropriate for the circumstances true. I nevertheless can't quite escape a feeling of unease with how things developed.
For the story itself, it started out with a more imaginative take on events from the series itself, but if this is where it ends...I confess feeling a bit disappointed. I rather wish this was the route RDM had taken things as it gave Lee a more pivotal role than he ended up with, while Kara really developed in ways better than otherwise seen.
On top of which you get an entirely different dynamic when you consider what Lee and Kara will have to face once they land after the battle. Would Adama as readily ignore his son's warning about their direction as he did the returned Starbuck? Would Lee face the same problems Kara did on the 'Demetrius' mission? What would be the Hybrid's warning to them once they made contact with the rebel cylons (*if* they actually made contact, that is)? There are so many unanswered questions now, and so much more potential than ever, I'm aghast at the the author's imagination here.
Basically, this story ends much too early and not with a sense of real resolution. Still, this is the author's story, and therefore their's to tell as they wish. I'm just pleased he's willing to share it with the rest of us (irregardless of how incomplete it feels).
Here's hoping we don't need to wait too long for the next story from them! |
