Reviews for Along the Way
Gundum M 4/11/13 . chapter 1
It's a good fic but for nobody dyeing or being injured in it, it's very depressing

Actually, I really wouldn't rely upon Hermione's mom simply being there for her..years after not only rejecting her, but having, essentially, mind raped her.
Frankly, relationships take work...and once broken really really don't suddenly "get better"...

Absolutely lovely. A wonderful condensed timeline of the realizations all of us go through as we grow older... Thank you so much for writing. )

I have to say it is a good fic and I also disagree with the previous reviewer . All that time Ron and Hermione spend time without Harry, its all background nonsense. The only thing that they have in common is Harry. Their fundamental personalities would never have made them friends without Harry. I also disagree with the notion that R/Hr actually have a relationship dynamic to healthily deal with disagreements. Ron and Hermione would not bother to go to each other without Hagrid or Ron being poisoned to come to their senses and attempt to resolve their fights. They have never attempted to solve any of their problems on their own without ludicrous plot devices. I have to say Rowling's decision to shove them together by authorial fiat saddens me the same way her decision to promote Ginny( who at least from the previous book OoTP seemed to have healthily moved on from her hero worship of Harry) as Harry's romantic partner. H/Hr do not need the Weasleys for character growth. Its a bit sad that the last 3 books became about the Weasleys rather than Harry Potter.

This was a very interesting chronicle of the way Hermione's future could have played out. She maintains many of the same qualities she did when she was younger: a penchant for learning, never giving less than her best, and always fighting for good.

There were some things that I didn't like about her characterization, though. You somehow have written her as zealous idealist and also the world's greatest cynic; doesn't cynicsm take years to cultivate? She's mastered it at 18 after her first day on the job. She wants to completely change the system, but she has no faith in the people or the institutions of the ministry to make it happen; she is the only one capable of doing what needs to be done, and it needs to happen under her fiat.

Also, you seem to have surprisingly little faith in her relationshp with Ron. Maybe I should accept this, seeing as you are a H/Hr shipper. You seem to think that they fight all the time, which just isn't true. They've known each other their entire lives, and have spent plenty of time alone without Harry (Harry's Quidditch practices, Hogsmeade withiou Harry, Harry's meetings with Dumbledore, Hermione always arrives at the Burrow before Harry...). Given all of this time spent together, you fon't think that they would have developed a relationship dynamic to healthily deal with disagreements? How would they stay friends otherwise? And your insinuation that they need Harry as a mediator for their relationship problems is ludicrous; when has Harry *ever* solved a fight between them about anything? I think your preference for H/Hr has clouded your judgement quite a bit in this area.

Furthermore, when is Hermione ever happy? She never seems affectionate with Ron; he constantly has to reassure her. She's never proud of what she accomplishes; she never laughs. Forget glass half empty, she can't see anything in the glass at all. Where are the loving gestures to friends and family? She only seems to take comfort from them-especially Ron-when something goes wrong in her career, but she never gives back at all. I'm not sure how anyone could manage to constantly be around someone so negative; it's depressing. It's like she's emotionally crippled.

So, all-in-all, it was an interesting story and a glimpse into the future, but it fell flat. I just don't agree with the depiction of Hermione as someone who can only see the faults of everything, and never be happy. I just don't believe that her heart would be as closed as it seems to be in this story.

i love this story, so real, and i love that you have hermoine yelling at ron, becouse he pureblood, and the rl world is just as mess up, so real change is very very slow.

great story.

Hi, I just wanted to leave a quick review saying how brave you are. I have never seen a well done second person story (according to my English teacher - my definition is different) until I read yours. Good job.

Might as well say now that the story as a whole was great, and you had me tearing up when Hermione's mom died. Keep up the good work.

A great story that avoids fanfic cliches.
Cirrat 11/5/09 . chapter 1
Magnificent piece :-) And yes, Hermione as Virgo explains a lot :-D
Little Kunai 4/19/09 . chapter 1
this is excellent. reminding the dreamers that they can't do everything in their lifetime and that change takes time and is built off others. good work. very realistic
Wotcher-Tonks 2/21/09 . chapter 1
fantastic. just bloody brilliant.
Nelras 9/15/08 . chapter 1
This is beautiful, well-thought out, in character, somehow compliant with that annoying DH epilogue, and so much more satisfying than aforementioned epilogue that smug doesn't even scratch the surface of my reaction to this piece.
sophia666 5/4/08 . chapter 1
Great canon story. I loved Hermione and, of course, Ron.
emuroo 1/10/08 . chapter 1
This is great. Hermione is such an interesting character, and you really captured her perfectly.
