I loved this story!
I'm a big sucker for any story involving John's father, and you made their strained relationship understandable but still fixable.
Generally I am not at all a fan of McKay but I actually liked him in your story. His care and concern for Sheppard were obvious in your story, but you didn't whitewash his less than charming characteristics.
But more than anything I loved your view of John Sheppard. You made John's despair so real and heartbreaking, but he was never pathetic. You really know how to balance John's vulnerability with his strength of character.
Thanks for this wonderful story.

This was such a touching story - I actually got choked up quite a few times. Even when I figured out that you intended on healing Sheppard, half of me was thinking, 'but but he's just getting settled and happy with his Dad.'

Fantastic characterisation, dialogue, pace and AU. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Thanks!

Wow. Wow. No, seriously--wow. A beautiful job on this, I really like it. Can't remember where I picked up the link to this... possibly the fic rec community on LJ? I'm not sure, but I'm very glad I took the time to read this. I was able to almost see what was happening, to feel what the characters were feeling.

Very nice story. You get high marks from me!

Amazing fic! I just love the interaction between John and his father, and the process of John learning how to deal with the world blind. Thank you so much for sharing this!

Wow. I mean...wow. This is such a wonderful, touching story, I can't quite describe it. Parts of it were so sad and heart wrenchingly painful that it had me sobbing in front of my computer and in a depressed mood when I had to take a break for lunch. But that's just what I loved about it. I was so emotionally invested in John and his blindness that I couldn't just get up from my computer and forget about it. It was just beautifully done. And I really liked your take on John's dad. Since John never really talked about his family I figured that something was up there and you managed to give an insight into what had caused the distance between John and his dad without making John's dad the ultimate bad guy. That would have cheapened the story, and anyway, this way is more realistic. I also really liked that there was a happy ending. Since this story will stay with me for some time, probably, if the ending had been all sad and depressing I'd have been a horror to live with. Hehe. So, yeah, great story. Thanks!

Aw, that was a great ending. If you had left it at John getting perfect vision back, then it would have been a bit too unrealistic. The idea of color blindness was very good. Wonderful story (made me cry)!

An absolutely lovely story. I like that you left it somewhat open-ended, too, as it's more believable and the reader can fill in the gaps however they want. And that last line . . . you must have had that written from the very beginning, because it's just perfect. :-)

Thanks so much for sharing your work!

Wow! As a relative newcomer to the SGA fandom, I have to say that this story is a real gem. I loved that you were able to portray Sheppard's blindness in a way that was dramatic without being hysterical. I felt real suspense at the end when Sheppard sat in that chair! The relationships between the characters were also excellently drawn. I particularly enjoyed the interaction between Sheppard and his father. The progression of their relationship felt very natural and genuine. I almost wish they had done something more like that on the show itself. :)

All in all, this was a great story. Thanks so much for sharing!

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed this story. Wonderful job. :) I'm glad that I found it when it was complete, because I was able to read it today in one fell swoop. ;) I really loved the way you handled the relationships between John and the people around him. I especially liked the development of the relationship with his father, and, of course, the established friendships between John and Rodney, Teyla, and Ronon. Thanks so much for all of your work.
