You really captured what we would imagine to be John's inner voice with that little gem. I would have loved to have known what he was thinking while Ghost!Dean was railing at him for not doing anything to save him. Ironic that what he chose to do would end up breaking Dean but ultimately saving Sam...

*stalks you* I do love John in this. So blindingly certain he's doing the right thing for his son - but still, just hurting him. And pushing that knowledge from him with everything he has. Hurtssogood. :)

I know, wasn't that scene just brilliant. The first time you're not sure what John is thinking, but then once you know, oh, you can just see it in his face, without words, all the pain, the guilt, Dean looking so small and young and vulnerable on the bed. His little boy, his first born, his son. I love that episode! Nice story.
