I have been following this story since chapter six. I'm sure you and I both know how long that's been (five years, perhaps). And despite your frustrating update speed, I still consider this fic to be my absolute favorite. I must confess that this isn't so much a review as it is a passive-aggressive attempt to prod you into writing again.

I never quite understood the appeal in a pairing like Shadow/Terra. You, however, bring the relationship to believable standpoint by making the two of them similar in experience. Both Shadow and Terra seem vulnerable to each other (particularly in the one chapter where she discusses her own parents), which makes their implied attraction more realistic.

Yeah, there's not much else I can say outside of that - that is, until you decide to update again.

This was good. But is it over?

Ahh, it's hard to find a decent Shadow fanfic. A shame that isn't updated for three years... However, from your profile, I can see you're still a semi-active writer. I'd urge you to update quickly, but as a not-so-active writer myself, I can understand that it's either reality or the drive to continue (maybe even both) may be a factor to your lack of updates... Please remember that there are people who are waiting, who would like to what happens next and hopefully follow it 'til the end.

I really wish you would actually get up and finish this. This has to be the best fanfic I've ever read. EVER. And it really disappoints me when I notice that you haven't updated it in...hm...how long has it been? A year now?

I absolutely love the interactions between the party members here - the way you've captured Relm's attitude, Strago's resentment. I love, too, Celes's terse summary of the battle of Maranda and why she would hire Shadow. Also, the variations in the strength of his reputation between the south and north are gorgeous. Well done!

I've read the first four chapters of this in one sitting, and I've been greatly enjoying it so far - particularly the fight scene at the end of this chapter, and everyone's reaction to his name.

A nitpick on chapter IV: Terra references Relm as thirteen, but she is specifically stated as ten in the World of Balance. Celes sleeps for a year in the transition to World of Ruin, and this is set two weeks after Kefka's defeat, which would make her eleven (or mayhaps twelve) by most counts?

Of course, their journey might easily have taken a couple of years, but the age reference pinged me a bit :)
