I just love how you write Matt & Near. They're still in character, but it's alos different from it too.

Nice job. ^_^ I hated that they both died (in the anime) but, you did a nice job with it. A little twist that he'd call Near. Anyway, I liked it.

... Wah! Such a sad story! I wish this was the way the actual anime and manga ended. The way it happened sort of left Near completely out of the loop. We didn't know how he reacted, and that's important seeing as they all grew up together. It's frustrating; they must have been close at some point despite Mello's hatred (dang inferiority complex)...

Woah, not meaning to turn this review into a rant. Ha ha. All in all, awesome story, almost brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for the great read, you rock!

damn but i love this story. it's so beautifully in character and fits so nicely into cannon. it almost makes up for the wham-bam-you're-dead scenes Matt and Mello actually got. so sad without being angsty, i don't even hate Near here.

Oh no... Matt got to Mello, but why do I feel like this ending is somehow still going to hurt more than the canon one? "It’s not like he’s never seen Mello get scared before, but he usually hides it better than this..." See? Lines like that scare me? Oh no, oh god, MATT...

Right there though, when Mello tells Matt to take the wheel... I'm sure that you know what's going on there, but I don't think it's that clear to the rest of us. Only... vaguely. Kind of came across a touch muddled.

Oh wow. What a sad ending. I like the way you had them go down, though. I really do. Hell, I almost wish you'd expanded. :P Well done.

I liked the style and atmosphere of this scene. The characterisation is good and the grammar is decent as well. I enjoyed the interaction between the characters, especially the familiararity between all the Whammy kids.

This kind of chewed my heart to pieces and spat it back out.
