| Meriah 2008-06-08 ch 1, | abuseHmm... fascinating. Well written and thought-provoking. Even if Absol weren't a favorite monster of mine, I'd still appreciate this story for its dark beauty. I've always been fond of fanfiction about wild Pokemon, but I've found most to be disappointing. This, however, was far from disappointing. In fact, it was great. The decision the Absol faced for her kit was difficult indeed, yet it was perfect and effective for a canid-like Pokemon. I found it interesting that you named her after a virgin goddess who is also the goddess of wildlife. Indeed, Artemis (as in the Absol) is a lot like the Greek deity in how you wrote this: I think the goddess would act the same way had she been a mother, for she is sometimes associated with mercy to go alongside her brutality. And with that said, I feel using an Absol for this was the perfect choice considering they are stigmatized for being the destruction Pokemon. Great fic. |
| Draconess 2008-05-21 ch 1, | abuseThis was short, but it was very sweet. |
| tracefan 2008-04-26 ch 1, | abuseThis was extremely good, I just can't seem to think of the right way to express it. |
| randomguy741 2007-12-26 ch 1, anon. | abuse*Thinks about absol blade* *Thinks about an absol birth* O_O |
| Tomoyo Kinomoto 2007-12-06 ch 1, | abuse*chuckle* So sweet! That little pup wouldn't happen to be Dione, by any chance? |
| Blissey 2007-11-24 ch 1, | abuseI like this one. It's pretty good. |
| Serpent Magick 2007-11-13 ch 1, | abuseCute, very cute. I do love those absol... |
| Shiguya Retomasi 2007-11-10 ch 1, | abuseWell, despite some rather harsh words I exchanged with the author the day this was posted, I still sat down and read it with an open mind. There have been quite a few times when adding my own small praise and opinions to the quite vocal chorus that is Buwaro’s fan base seemed rather pointless, but that was before I stopped being a stuck up prat…for the most part. That, and most of the ‘reviews’ he receives are either semi-mindless chatter from zealous fans, strange ramblings that would leave scholars puzzled for weeks or general silliness that is so rampant on Anyway, onto the actual review. As for being set in the Tales of Flame universe, the only true link we would have to go on is that it’s the only series Buwaro has written and posted here on Nonetheless, it does not detract from the stories overall quality or feeling. Particularly in the way he sets up the scene, bringing forth images of a barren wasteland devoid of all but the toughest of life. In such a short time he has brought a sense of warmth to one of the coldest places imaginable; showing that even no matter how hostile a place can be, life…and caring can still exist. Beyond that bit, the overall style of writing was quite different from his normal work. I’m not saying that Tales of Flame is bad, more that it’s written on a fast paced, no time to stop and feel style. Even his off-shot story holds that feel…but this one was something a bit different…something, something more alive. I do like Artimus quite a bit, taking such chances to bring new life to a frozen wasteland, even risking her own on the off chance they would manage to see the light of another day break the perpetual gloom. Again a disguised tenderness that is very rarely seen from Buwaro’s normal style of character design. Beyond those minor thought on his style, the story also showed another glimpse at the varying environments, and quite frankly just how difficult it truly is in the wild; something few stories here ever explore. I would question the motives of trying to raise a newborn in such a harsh place, but beyond the fact that it’s just a part of life, Absol are naturally hardy enough to pull off something so dangerous. In closing, I would highly recommend this story to anyone looking for something a bit off the beaten path of shipping nonsense, rather mundane plots and downright bad stories. Sure, the word count is low for a one-shot, but that does not detract from the story in any way I could find. |
| deathangelex 2007-11-10 ch 1, | abuseThis one-shot is great even for your standards (not trying to sound jerkish there) and great job with Tales of Flame. |
| Rizu Komesu 2007-11-10 ch 1, | abuseBuwaro, I have said it once and I will say it again; I like this one, a lot. It's really a fantastic piece of work and it really shows where some of Dione's traits come from. All around an excellent short-story in the ToF universe, and yet has a much more serious nature to it. That's... Really all I have to say on it. |
| Abysswing 2007-11-10 ch 1, | abuseAw. Cute Absol kit... I love Absol. Hmm. Artemis. Good name. The last bit made me smile. |
| Juptile 2007-11-10 ch 1, | abuseThis story is quite touching, in a way. Not many fics are so realistic in how they portray the harsh lives of the Pokemon. And now to get around to adding an author alert on you! |
| scarlet pikachu 2007-11-09 ch 1, | abuseI believe the fic you spoke of about the vaporeon was called "A Place where I belong" or something of the like, I read it too it was agreat fic, Shiguya Retomasi really can write some d*mn good fics! I thought it was very kawaii(cute)! Sad though, what lies before those Absol? We won't know without another chapter or such, but then that might kill the whole sense of what the first chapter imprinted into our minds... Meh, sorry if my rambling bothers you... |
| Shattered Silence 2007-11-09 ch 1, | abuseWow, this is quite different from your usual style of writing. Its a good story, just wish it was a bit longer... The ending was really nice. |
| Delta Knight 2007-11-08 ch 1, | abuseHmm. An interestingly different fic, to say the least. I've seen a few other fics from Pokemon POVs, but their usually romance fics. None about simple survival. This might be good. Or bad. Too early to tell. |
