| Drakkenfyre 2008-05-20 ch 1, | abuseI loved this story, not only for how it was written, but for what it means to me. My father is a 6'4" guy who served in the army, then the navy, then the army. He's been overseas, he's been shot at, he was nearly blown up--and he loves Ms. Pac Man, too! You see, when he was a sailor, there wasn't much to do on the ship besides . . . well, there wasn't much. But they had a Ms. Pac Man machine. So, after he taught himself to play the flute, he became the best Ms. Pac Man player I've ever known. And I loved arcades in those days (still do), so we'd go and he'd give me a handful of quarters to go play my games, then I'd come back later and watch him play, still on the same quarter. He was just amazing. I never thought of my dad, Mr. Big Tough Military Man, Mr. Fix-It, all of that, as someone who would play Ms. Pac Man. But he did. :) Of course, I called him today, and he'd been playing Wii Sports with his wife and stepdaughter, so I guess there's still that same seeming contradiction living in the same man. :) Oh, and I thought your last line was wonderfully heart-wrenching. |

You went below and kept on going and did a fantastic job! I love Brass/Sara friendship fics but there are so few good ones, I'm glad to have read this one! |
