Best Tony-reaction-to-Kate's-death I've read yet. Most have him going TOO emo. One of my favorite things about Tony is his ability to act fairly normal no matter how he's feeling.

This is really a great piece. I read it months ago and rediscovered it today.
Tony's thoughts seem so alive and real, and the scenes we all remember come to life in such a great way. Awesome.

What a great story written around Kate's death and showing the turmoil within Tony. I just loved your take on this dramatic episode and it is all the better for your excellent input.

M, lovely, just a lovely free-hand character sketch. You really GOT Tony to perfection, without making him a wimpy whiny tearful needy neurotic three year old.

So many writers who try to get in Tony's head do not seem to understand that it is possible to have commitment issues, be insecure, even needy, and be desperate for approval without being a paralyzed, emotionally retarded, pitifully dependent, stunted human being.

I mean, the man has (in fanon at least) survived a vicious childhood to graduate from college, join the police department (which would have required PASSING the psych eval), execute a meteoric rise to detective, get hired into NCIS (which would have required passing their psych eval too, as well as a security background check) and become the Senior Field Agent for the top investigative team in NCIS. He's got to be, you know, like, FUNCTIONAL. He can have problems, even serious ones, but he is still operating at an adult, functional level. He could NOT function if just being in Gibbs' presence reduced him to the emotional level of a three year old.

So it was a real pleasure to read a story that actually looked at a Tony who was an adult; damaged, yes but an adult. Good job!

Great writing style - great perspective into Tony's head. Totally believable. Really like that you went back into these eps, would really like to hear your take on some others - okay, a lot of others - as well. Thanks for posting!

Beautifully written! A wonderful glimpse into Tony's thoughts during those very rough few weeks in particular. Many thanks. VP.

Well, this is lovely. You've brought up some things I'd never realized about those episodes (and believe me, I've watched them a LOT). Like Tony lashing out at McGee because he's angry/jealous that McGee's memories of Kate will be only good ones and not involve personally watching her brains get blown out. I always get the feeling, when I watch that part, that Tony is just barely keeping it together and if he'd snapped, it would have been on McGee.

Also, love the line about Abby fondling him. (lucky, lucky Abby)

Excellent expansion of the eps, great Tony-voice too. You really got his character and filled in his thoughts for those tough canon moments. I particularly enjoyed his rationale for staying and maybe never having the chance to leave after his two years anyway, let alone now.

It's just so cool to find NCIS fics written by you. Great story. Tony certainly has been through quite a lot with Gibbs and crew.

Excellent! You have Tony's voice down perfectly. I like how you filled in the scenes, everything made sense and made those scenes richer. Great job!
