i seem to be catching up on your stories . . and this one is just as beautiful as others you have written about Snape's recovery and his and Hermione's change of heart and their developing relationship. Please keep writing, your stories are beautifully crafted and really touching. It is amazing that English is not your first language (just like JunoMagic who writes incredibly well) English is my fourth, so I am full of admiration for your language skills. I am adding you to my "author alert" list.

Lovely and much appreciated. :-) I'm a sucker for stories where someone (preferably Hermione, but to be honest, almost anyone would do!) actually goes back and saves Snape... and where he has someone actually care for him. And this was just really nice.

I found my way here through a recommendation by whitehound. This is a beautiful and beautifully written story. Both HG & SS explore the new world after the last battle painfully, but openly. Their interactions feel tentative and true. I hope you'll continue to write more on this thread.

He is very young, poor boy - only 31 when they first met him - and it's about time somebody took proper care of him.

If someone had cared, yes. But when your own author hates your guts no matter how many Gryffindors you die for, there's not much hope. I have never seen an author have such a jones against a character who behaves so heroically. But he's a Slytherin, and I guess that means nothing good he actually does counts. (Now, if you're a Gryffindor, and throw Unforgivables around like confetti, or you experiment on underage children, or torment Longbottom worse than Snape did, or run a pack of bullies, it's quite all right if you're a Gryffindor).

Sorry about the rant. I loved your story. In a sane world it would have been the truth.

There is something gentle about this fic, if you think of it as a voice. I'm a musician, so I guess I could describe it as a melodic way of writing. I found it very enjoyable! Occasionally I felt the "orchestration" got so thick that the transitions were a bit muddled, but I'm not sure how to show the change in time without disrupting the flow. It was also very philosophical. Is this supposed to be a precursor to Watching the Witch, when Hermione goes to the tree? I hope you can continue this story! thanks for posting. take care- Req

Excellent and insightful.
Like you wrote, one of the most painful things in DH was the complete indifference and disregarding and silence of everyone for
Snape’s miserable life and death.
You have been very deep in telling the sense of guilty and shame for her previous judgement of the professor. Guilt felt even more thinking of the mockery and suspicion by students and colleagues.
Then I think you have made a very good job when you hint at the splitting with Ron. It’s a necessity for those who love ss/hg but you without resorting to chiché like Lavender of Quidditch, have made the choice more logical, mature, believable. Who could blame Ron?
Hermione in your story stands up for all us and makes amends for JKR.
Thank you very much.

But no one in canon did care for Snape and that, for those of us who understood him and loved him before Jk revealed his heroism to the chattering masses, is the bitterest part of his end. We could put him to rest, peacefully, with the satisfaction of "Home is the hunter", if they had, but failing their care all that we can do is pour out our hearts like water, like oil, like soothing lotions, to amend their failure. Thanks.
